arrow Computer Components Clean Up?

While I was looking through the forums The computer compenents section looks like it may need some cleaning up or something of that sort. Maybe a Section for each major comp part like, PSU, Memory, CPU, MOBO, Hard Drive/storage and maybe something along those lines.

I dunno just a thought I had, If I had a CPU prob I would be confused where to post it atm. So thats just my thoughts

What do you guys think?

I dont think its tidying the section up by adding another 15 subsections. There is nothing I hate more than going to a forum and having 45 forum sections when 10 would work better.

Hardware Discussion & Support
Discuss your computer - its components or ANY hardware, past/current/future you want, or ask our forum experts if you have a general problem with your hardware.

Isnt that easy, tidy and simple enough?

I moved the whole tools forum to the bottom of the site now, moving the hardware stuff up a level so its easier to find.....

I think that Green Death Flavor has a point there, but that cannot work here. It could easily work in a forum focused on a subject alone (eg Hardware) but our forums are way too many and varied. It would end up to having nearly 100 subforums if someone did that.

As long as there is no overflow of threads in the current forums and (I hope) all are getting their help and answers, why complicate matters more?

Indeed, im not dismissing his idea as having no merit, it is just Driverheaven has so many forums and subforums I dont really feel having individual sections for amd intel cpus, motherboards, power supplies, memory etc will actually help people find anything or ease use. There are other sites that specifically deal with one aspect of these and I would think most users would go to those sites for a localised and very specific issue, whereas Driverheaven is a general support forum for everything.

Obviously if enough people disagree ill contemplate adding subforums in sections, but i think most people feel it works as is. We have software and tweaking forums, then overclocking and modding and hardware forums, with obviously dedicated forums for graphics and audio cards and drivers we develop and support for these areas.

If anyone has ideas for improvements or alterations to our layout, design something up as a graphic and email me it. im always open for ideas !

Yeah I see what your saying. There are already a lot of sections in the forums already. Another thing I thought about was maybe The Hardware section could instead have some sticky posts for the certain parts of the computer, that way when ever someone has a problem they can post it there instead of creating a new thread. I dunno what would work for this site and I know you have done this for a while. Just kinda thinking outloud, to see if any of my ideas could work.

Would creating a bunch sticky posts in the Hardware discussion for each of the major computer components be a bit much? And also, do you think it would help to have the Hardware discussion at the top of Computer Components?

Also if you guys think it is getting pretty cluttered with Forum topics maybe you could combine some of the topics together. Like ones that don't have many posts compared to the others.

Dunno just thinking outloud.

if you have any ideas. please let me know. the more feedback the merrier. means I might hear ideas I havent thought about. The sticky threads have merit - although obviously we need to balance the usefulness of stickies with not having too much stuck in each forum (as it gets hard to find anything with loads of stickies). if you have any particular ideas in mind why not drop the moderators of the particular forums a PM detailing your ideas and they can look into it.

Cheers man !
