Many Vbulletin message boards has a inbuilt repsystem, this means that the users can mod the forum, when a user gets more then 500 negative rep points or so, he will be banned.. etc

This system has a load of negative points and too few positive. I don't think it is necessary for anything, especially for banning people.

I can expand my opinion on this a lot if someone would like to hear the details.

I prefer to leave the banning to the team I trust ... based on their instincts and a thorough look at members behaviour on the forum. I honestly think that reputation is only really to blow the egos of staff/admins with flashing stars etc.

Dont get me wrong, I know many people like it, but I think its useless, id rather reward people in other ways.

I hate rep... Ruins forums imho! People with bad rep are being not taken seriously and vice versa...

Maybe it's just me, but I still think this guy is just a spammer in disguise. I think he's only wanting people to click on that MISTAKES link in his signature.

I wouldn't think so. I certainly do not agree with his suggestion, but it is still a constructive opinion/feedback.

Rep systems are too easily abused, that is their basic problem, even with the usual limitations, it is still possible to form a circular cartel of tit for tat repping.
