Me stupid....

thought if i bid in the last 3 minutes of an auction in ebay, i would have it.. bid was on 212. I thought, lets be safe and bid 240. Last 20 seconds i get overbid by $3,16...
i feel like smashing something... i just should have bidded 250 as maximum...

lets start the search for some good 2gb memory from scratch again...

TheBlackCat is an unknown quantity at this point

You probably want one of those programs that will automatically bid at the last possible moment (assuming the current bid is below a maximum you set). Your competitor may have been using such a thing there.

Maddogg6 will become famous soon enoughMaddogg6 will become famous soon enough

I always wondered if there are people doing this:

I login as a seller in ebay - put up stuff up for bid that is 'very competitive' (aka not rediculoulsy low to make people think its BS)
Wait till people place bids - and if I would take a loss at the price they bid at.... I would log in as a buyer - and out bid at the last minute. Freeing me of the loss I would have taken selling at the other bidders price.... Then as a seller - I would back out of the sale - and becuase I wouldnt post bad remarks about myself - my buyer login would still look golden.

Or am I an 'evil genious' for this 'unique idea'...???

edit:
any mechanisms at ebay to prevent/detect this?

no way, there is no sub for you and a stopwatch

I feel for you Neshi, I've missed out on absolute steals for all kinds of silly reasons.
but that's half the fun of Ebay (< I don't really mean that, I'm just trying to make you feel better)
