As did i ....i actually said something along the lines of what he ended up saying in that movie before.... I was somewhat shocked to here something realistic and a very good point....

Default Post Religion is not faith, belief is not always religion

All the people on this forum that discount an all powerful entity/force/intelligence/etc. due to lack of evidence and/or the acts of the humans involved with the congregational worship of such things is just as near sighted and narrow minded as the holy roller, gung-ho, bible pusher.

Religion is just a system created to give people of like beliefs a way to worship and explore ideas together. Nothing more. Religion may be exploited to gain certain people more power but it does not change the fact that it is a man made thing. God or Allah or Buddah or Gro'thuk the Mad most likely didn't create all the religions that worship him/her/it.

I take the position that to have a personal faith or belief in anything is all a person needs to be a person. I believe souls are just the name given to our compiled personality traits and beliefs, not some physical thing meant to be sold or stolen. I believe religion is the foundation of chaos and false information. I believe the creator is all knowing, and does things in such a way that no one will ever be able to comprehend it. I believe people with no beliefs disapprove of their lives and other's lives so much that they do not have the self esteem to proclaim themselves important enough to matter, which leads me to discount them as uninteresting and useless (much like my opinion of Billy). Finally, I believe that all my beliefs are just best guesses and will never be perfectly correct, but since I believe I'm pointed in the right direction I believe that the creator that I believe in will understand that and accept me, maybe even think my jokes about gay people and retards are funny just because he realizes I don't mean it to harm anyone.

What you believe in is personal, not to be dictated to you by me, your friends, a religion or your enemies. Religion is good for the average Joe, to the thinker they need their own beliefs, and to the lame and moronic- no belief is the easiest way for them to discount any morals, laws, responsibility they would have to adhere to.

Believing in something is what makes a person human, wether it's God, the big bang, or mother earth. In the end, the specifics won't matter, but the intent will.

-End of rant-

Default Post and another thing

In response to the person "proving" the existence of love and emotions based on personal experience. That is not scientific at all, and does not prove shit.

I've seen Robotrippers that think the floor is blades and scream in pain as they try to find the relative safety of a couch.

I've seen x poppers think a plant was giving them an orgasm.

I've gotten baked and thought The Crow was a good movie.

In all those instances, personal experience was false, hell, for a geek approach watch the matrix and see just how fake your experience could really be. For all you know, I'm just some random artificial intelligence script based off a life simulator in Navajo, typing words to you in the desperate search for the soul that humans claim to have. 00101101 0001110 01101011 00111101! A3f! Dot dot dash dot dash dot dot dot dash!

You just prove those things because you believe in them so much, I can tell that, you just don't want to cope with the compromising of your position as a non-believer-in-anythinger. I feel sorry for you, you must be a sad sad little fat person.

Word. If there's one thing I'll give atheists, it's this: they're usually quite intelligent. That cannot be said about our buddy Rayder.

He has little going for him, I'm afraid.
