Some of you know my opinion of Mac's and Pc's and others this is your first time. And this is what I have not figured out.

Apple is selling hot right now and not really slowing down. They are smashing the sales in laptops, Desktops, Smart Phones, MP3 players and it's taking so long for another company to come out with something equal and able to catch on as well as Apple stuff.

Every time Apple releases a new product everyone goes crazy and nuts like its the coolest thing they ever seen and paid an over price for it.

I just don't understand. Microsoft keeps the companies like HP,Dell,Gateway,Asus,Sony etc in the business, but all these companies really suck at advertising.

I mean Apple as it seems spend more than all these companies combined with TV ad's showing off the computers to Iphone and the Ipod. (just a guess)

When was the last time you seen an HP Ad? Well I can remember when it was last week, but the fact is HP and Dell put out so many ad's a year or 2 ago and just like stopped now...

Problem is, is that all PC users seem to be switching to Mac and never coming back.

I fully understand that it costs a lot of money, and maybe they are just standing back collecting the money because they have the market share, but that's the problem. They are going to get passed up by Apple in no time and they are digging them self into a grave they are not going to be able to get out of.

HP is doing something right with the Voodoo computer, however no know knows what it is because you never see an ad on TV about it or anything. It is a very strong competitor for the Mac Book Pro and IMO blows it away in how cool it is.

If I was in charge of HP's laptop division I would really really change how things run.

First the shell of the laptop needs to be re done and done well. Don't use the cheap plastic and make it look nice. Not all white or black like the Mac book, but put some really sweet style in it. Second push that Vista DOES NOT SUCK because we all know it is a very strong and good OS.

Before I go on it is shocking that Microsoft lets Apple beat Vista to the ground and pound all the life out of the OS and does NOTHING to counter it. I mean popping TV Ad's on the cool new features that Vista can do is something they should have done, but really failed lol

Morel of the story is that EVERYONE but APPLE really sucks at marketing and really needs a wake up call. Apple is now 3rd on the list for the most computers sold neck and neck with Acer. 1. Is Dell and 2. Is HP

Don't really care what computer you buy, but since I prefer Windows I really hate to see Mac take up all the glory.


On a positive note HP on the desktop line did do something right! The touch screen all in one desktop is AMAZING. I used it and the program that comes along with it really makes it fun, but again need to push it more. Way more.

If your product is already selling well enough.... generally you don't have to put up ads...

when ads come flying, usually the business is doing it for shits and giggles or is in a bit of a bind or possible problems.

that's GENERALLY how it "worked" not sure if it's still mostly accurate today..


Apple is just insane with ads reguardless..... Plus they probably do it simply due to the availability of what they have on hand is already pretty much prepaid for by apple due to it being thier own product anyways.

Nothing like rolling into work and going, i feel like doing this, and volla, all the tools and everything is already there and ready to go, because they are your own products...

I take it that Microsoft can't make their own computers or maybe they won't even if they could due to the fact that it would piss off everyone who makes computers for them lol.

I don't think I would buy a MS PC. Whenever I see a TV ad, magazine, online etc about Apple, it makes me not want to have one. Whenever I read posts in forums from Apple users and how far better their products are to the rest, it makes me sick. Apple products are not more reliable than other, but the propaganda machine works well.
I never liked Apple computers, even back in the 80s, I much prefered the much cheaper and better equiped Atari ST than the macs.

Well, let's be honest guys, the ipod actually sounds pretty damn good (looks pretty damn good too)....problem is there are a lot more products that sound way better/just as good for less or significantly less. As for Apple and Dell PC's, I've always been a clone man, and cloning makes a lot more sense to me. When it comes to laptops on the other hand.... one look at the decent one's prices and your feet will curl.

Callandor, are you in the USA? Look at bestbuy or something for the price of the new toshiba qusmio (or something) x305. Then show me ANY Apple laptop that can reach it in performance for that price...or any price range.

Canada actually, not bad, but I'm talkin' bout systems which compare to high end rigs, they're about 2-3 times more expensive than a rig, I thought about getting a top of the range laptop (like one's with dual 8800s for example) but even if it wasn't my money decided against it, it'd be cool and all but not sensible.

Definetley an interesting argument. Have to disagree with you about the choice of materials used on HP's Voodoo - defintley not cheap plastic. The shell is made from a carbon fibre weave and feels awesome to the touch.

Agreed that he Voodoo needs to go beyond basic black and white with its styling. Pesonaization optons r going to be available, with some on the high end of pricing and others more reasonable.
