Last night I parked in the same place as I always do. Everything was peachy. I had a great evening, played with my son, played some games, crashed out at midnight, woke up this morning and did what I always do to get everybody ready for work/daycare.

That's as far as my normal morning went. When I came out to the car, which we have only had for 2 months I found it egged.

I work very hard for what I have and while it may not be the best of the best I am proud that my hard work earned it. I'm proud to be in the financial situation I am in because I provide very well for my family and have exactly what we need for our humble, frugal lifestyle.

Now my hard work is the victim of these little idiots who want to play the big man.

I'm not sure who I'd rather shake by the collar. The punk kids or the parents. I know you can't police your kids all the time but egging a car would have NEVER gone through my head or the heads of my close friends. Our brains simply aren't wired that way.

In my opinion that clearly speaks volumes about either the mental state of the kids or a sub-standard upbringing at home where they were never taught to respect other people's property.

I had to piss away my morning and $10 getting a car wash, which didn't get all of the egg off, my son was late getting to daycare, which tranlated into me almost being late for work and now I'll have to waste my evening soaking the spots that didn't come off while hoping the egg didn't eat too far into the paint after being allowed to sit all day just because they wanted to get their jollies.

Wait. I have an idea. If they want to break eggs they can come on over to my place in the morning. I'll put them to work in the kitchen and they can make my breakfast.

If I EVER found out that my son pulled stunts like this he wouldn't be seeing the outside world except when absolutely necessary for a VERY long time.

I am mad enough to beat them down, Cow but a) I'd go to jail, b) I'm too pretty for jail and c) I'd be made out to be the bad guy.

What I'd like to do is catch them and haul them home to their parents to see if they will actually do anything about it. If not the only other course of action would be vandalism charges but I'm not leaving the egg on my car long enough for our do nothing police force to come have a look. I have zero respect for our local police force because they failed to do anything in the past when I needed them on a big issue.

It's pretty bad when pressing vandalism charges against people is more bother than it's worth because I'd be wasting my time, probably have to eat up vacation time at work and all they would get is a slap on the wrist.

Ivan, when I was young I was either biking with friends, playing video games with them or by myself or in school. Not once did we ever think, "Gee, how can I damage someone elses property?"

It's pretty sad when things get to this point and I'm absolutely terrified to be raising my son in this day.

ANYTHING can damage paint... even surran wrap and tissue paper, if it's left on for extended periods of time.. shit even dirt can...

but it's soluable... and if not left to sit for days and bake in the sun, and removed improperly, it'll be fine.

Luckily we got some rain and it wiped right off but how is a possibly permanent form of vandalism any different than a 100% permanent form, Judas? The same intent is there whether, to use your example the car was keyed or if it was egged.

There is no difference. It's still doing something damaging to property that belongs to someone else.

I can't wait until I can get my family out of this place.

Thing is.. there is no damage done provided it's not left there for days and weeks baking in the sun or anything...

An instant diliberate attempt at vadilism where damage is realized emediately is completely different from while seen as humorous or rude egging where no harm is done. Would you have the same problem if someone took toilet paper and completely did up your car? I know plasticwrap, if left on the car will do damage, but doesn't hurt if you get rid of it emediately.

The fact of the matter is, there is no damage done, just time wasted and a bit of water.

Personally i don't care if my vehicle was egged, or wrapped with whatever. But if someone were to key the car or jump on it.. which does emediate and permanent damage.. different story.

No sense in crying over spilt milk, it can be cleaned up, broken glass is another story.

When I was a kid I used to egg cars in the underground parking garages. My best friends mom found about about this and labeled me a bad influence and never let me hang out with him again. Eventually I moved on to more harmless targets such as shopping malls and public transit (they get cleaned anyway!). Aside from some shoplifting as a teen that had to be the only criminal acts I've committed in my entire life and even at 12 years old I never would have hit a car with more than one egg because that would wash off easily. My parents were pretty smart about my love of egging and let me take expired eggs and toss them at trees while we drove down dirt roads. That kept me from causing any real trouble

It sucks that this minor act of vandalism ruined your day but compared to what kids these days do to beat boredom you got off easy. I hate to say it but you're overreacting

We used to egg and tp vacant houses in our neighbourhood when we were young but we would never do it to cars or to a place where someone stayed ever, so I can see why you would be mad Optix. Discipline is what the kids of nowadays need, but ofcourse you can't discipline kids anymore.

Also, if you think getting your car egged is bad. At the Target right down the street from my house (1 mile away) two 13 yr old kids (1 with a double barrel shotgun, the other with a .45 caliber handgun) tried to rob a guy in the parking lot.

I'm sorry, if some little fuck thinks he has the balls to step to me or my wife with a weapon I have no problem smearing him across the wall.



Kids are spoiled without discipline or punishment and if they have to learn the hard way by going to prison or worse, I have no remorse.

Probably just kids messing around - they probably didn't intend any damage, just hijinks. You have to realise that no malice was intended. Yes it's annoying and they shouldn't have done it - they should know to respect other peoples feelings but really it's not the end of the world.

When we were younger we used to tp and egg vacant houses in our neighbourhodd, but ofcourse we wouldn't do it to houses where we knew people lived. It was just harmless fun we thought at the time but ofcourse we didn't know any better and that's why we were doing it. Actually, Judas I would be just as pissed off if it were toilet paper. It is the same act of vandalism with the same thought process. Do something negative to something that does not belong to you.

The intent is there regardless of the method, be it permanent or not. What would have happened if I had gone away for a few days, huh? That egg would have etched itself into my car. Just because the egg is not potentially damaging if caught in time, does that mean I have to stay home each and every day just to keep tabs on my stuff?

Whether caught in time is completely irrelevant.

I am so tired of this roll over and take it up the ass philosophy of some people.

I did not/do not pull shit because it is wrong, not because I could get caught. What a stupid reason. How about you do not do something because you think it through first and realize that other people will be impacted by it in a negative way?

This is something I am going to instill in my son very early on.

It is about time these little shits get what is coming to them but they will not because their parents are too damn scared that they will be labeled as a bad parent by their child, afraid that they are "infringing on their child's creative rights and freedom of expression" or just do not care if their child turns out to be that kid you see on the 5 o'clock news being lead out of the courthouse in cuffs.

I fail to see how any act of vandalism is considered acceptable.

Sorry, but you completely missed that i wasn't condoning what was done, the lack of respect is disgraceful as I and my sisters were sevearly disaplined according to most other kids to learn to respect others and do to them as you would have liked done to you and so forth. We were strickly taught you do NOT ever touch another persons property at any given time for any reason whatsoever without direct authorisation as well as if you do get that, and you end up breaking something or doing damage to it in any way, it is either properly fixed (not cheaply) or totally replaced, no if's buts or anything about it.

I was however stating that egg is the least of your worries or concerns, i was stating that getting keyed or worse, a drunk driver managing to clip your car or completely roast it altogether would have been real bad.

I got in trouble when I was young but it was because I was staying out late riding my bike around the neighbourhood, when I accidentally broke a window with a slapshot gone horribly wrong after being told I couldn't go out and play (man, did I catch shit for that) or because my grades were in the toilet. Not because I was out vandalizing property. I hung around with kids who thought it would be fun to do that but I bailed as soon as things went south. It just didn't interest me.

Sorry, Judas. I see your point now. Yes, having actual physical damage that can't be fixed without shelling out some cash would be worse so there is a silver lining but to me the intent to do harm is just as bad. I suppose I should just be thankful.

It infuriates me at the lack of respect that people show other people's property and other people in general.

Maybe parents should be taking the fall for their rotten little brat children instead. Let's see how quickly things change then.

while someone should be taking responcibility... i do not think parents should be held 100% accountable... but they should lose control over protecting their children from allowing others to disapline them..

when i was still growing up.. it wasn't uncommon for a complete stranger (sorta) to disapline someone that wasn't even their child for doing something bad...

That is a bit outside of what was considered "acceptable" for my time growing up/the area where I grew up -but- I would absolutely welcome the fact that someone came forward about my son if he were pulling stunts like this -assuming- they have proof to back it up.

As I said, I won't go buck nutty without cause and that includes proof that something wrong was done.
