Friends?
Yeah, sure. This girl I was really into and pretty much dating got stolen by my so called "good friend" who just recently told me that he was worried about me being alone all the time (Because I have chronic major depression). When I told him that I want my speakers and router back, which I let him borrow a few weeks ago, he told me that I was acting irrational and childish. I guess I will have to redefine the word irrational for his sorry ass.
I know that isn't the whole story, but that's the most important details from a slightly biased perspective, sightly being the key word. Am I being irrational or do I have every right to feel like gutting him? Also, I'm not angry at the girl, she told me that she makes stupid decisions and I still decided to stick around. I'm angry at my friend because he was proactive in getting her.

Re: Friends?
First of all, if the 'friend' knew you were into the girl and you were actively doing something towards going out with her, and he still went after her, he is no friend. The rest doesn't matter.
You've got every right to ask back what is yours, as he has lost the friendship and thus any goodwill from your part.

Re: Friends?
As my sociology professor said, the idea that a man, a human, should or could be a completely rational being is completely irrational, so no need to give that matter too much thought in this situation, if you want your stuff back, get it. (And how on Earth is to keep doing favours to someone who's treated you that way supposed to be rational anyway?)

Re: Friends?
Both the girl and the boy are guilty, and so are you.
To feel angry at your (ex?) friend and not at the girl just shows you are weak and you still hope something might happen between the two of you. You are basically fooling yourself. Get your equipment from him, NOW and cut all contact with him and the girl. Don't be stupid. Both relationships are over. The sooner you act like he is no longer your friend and she is not someone you should be in touch, the better for you and the less stupid you will be and look.

Re: Friends?
I don't care about that girl anymore. I just don't hate her like I do my "friend".

Re: Friends?
In my opinion you shouldn't hate either one. You are all human, neither is perfect.
But to have even more bad feelings for one is not right. He didn't rape the girl, all was done with her desire and wishes too. And since they both wanted it, why blame mainly one? As I see it you must either blame all parties, or none.

Re: Friends?
I hate to be the one saying this but you might need to take a look at yourself and what you've done as well.
I learned the hard way myself to never take anyone or anything for granted. Having a relationship takes a lot of work. Even if you're together with someone it won't just magically stay like that if you're to content. We all need to make an effort to keep it alive, and that goes both for close relationships as well as friendships. I also know that it's easier to blame someone else than take responsibility. That's an important lesson to learn. Until any of us can turn around and take a look in the mirror instead we'll continue to go into the same traps over and over again. The only one we can change are ourselves, not anyone else. This goes even if you've done nothing wrong. It's always good to look at ourselves and wonder what we've done and if we could have done otherwise. Of course not to be to self critical, that's not good either, but weigh our own actions and learn from them. |

Re: Friends?
Well, I criticized myself for it all the time, until I realized that there was not much I could have done to avoid this situation. If there was, I would have, might have.

but why? They act bad. they don't care how you feel as long as it makes them feel good, and you would still consider changing something to avoid this? I hate to sound like a broken record, but the best thing that you could have done if you could go back in time, was to dump them both.

"Bro's before Ho's" might as well have been the 11th Commandment. Get your stuff back and tell him to fuck off and hope he gets crabs.

Re: Friends?
My point wasn't to blame yourself but to learn from this and not end up in a similar situation again. As I said, we can only change ourselves, not anyone else. Even though others do their own thing we can learn to see the signals and break off in time before we get hurt by them.

Re: Friends?
I've moved on. I spoke to the girl and she was the one who apologized, which definitely felt good. I gave her one last chance with me (I was just doing it for a little giggle) and she chose my best friend, so I got the giggle I wanted and walked away. It's pretty amazing how events such as these put so many things into perspective.
