Obligatory V-Day Rant
Of a different type!

Going into this year, I was adamant on having a Valentine. 2 weeks ago, I wasn't so much because I have too much to do.

So, with that being said, this flame is directed to all the idiots who think that sitting alone doing homework while drinking a glass of Scotch is a loser-ish thing to do on V-Day. Fuck you! I got a lot of homework to do and very little time to do it in! The Scotch is there to help me not rip apart my Diff Eq book.

Haha.

Being single is only a depressing thing if you get depressed about it. If you don't care so much, fine, good for you. And I mean that entirely non-sarcastically.

As for Valentine's day, it's just some arbitrary day to care about relationships on. Most long-term couples barely make anything of it, because they know that it's just another day.

It's creepy what kind of pressure society can put on people. Although I did fall in love a little bit today, with my new (well, inherited from my boss) laptop. I don't know the exact model, but it's a ThinkPad with an i7, a very nice machine.

When I get a bit depressed/lonely, I start to think of friends and people I know who got married. How they stopped going out. How they started playing tabletop games with couple friends and stopped playing video games because "they really really wanted that". How (not all) go to bed the same time, regardless if they are also tired or not, how they have to go to bed and wake up to the same person, every long, boring, single 24hour day of the rest of their lives. How they have to share TV time. How they have to stop wearing what they really want. How they have to eat exactly what their wife/gf thinks is the best. MOVIES. How they have to start drinking wine even though they only love beer. How they get all p.c.

And I say to myself, fuck! I am the lucky one! Fine, keep your 14th of February, I have every other day.

When I was in my teens V-day wasn't even something we knew about, it was something we saw on american movies. Then during the 90's there was a massive campaign from the retailers to promote it as something that was important to celebrate here as well. So, for those 10-15 years younger than me it's apparently very important, I myself don't care one bit.
