Idiots that send you scam/fake emails

A pet peeve rant.

I feel like telling the morons (friends, family, whoever) what they can do with their fairy tale emails. You know the kind, there's a little lost girl and here's her pic or put dish soap in a bowl of water and it kills mosquitoes, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

A 5 second search on http://www.snopes.com will tell them it's bs. I've told them that 15 umpteen thousand frickin times to check this crap on there but can they do a simple thing like that? Oh no!!! That's way too much work when a simple forward will benefit all of mankind so damned greatly!!!!

I feel like replying something like this, "Thank you so much for sharing such an interesting and insightful story. Here's a little gift for you and don't worry if your anti-virus software says it's bad it's really not. You know how you can get false hits sometimes. Thanks again!!!"

Oh this stuff drives me absolutely nuts!! There's a special place in hell for people like that!!!

Anyway, I feel much better now. Thanks for listening.

Ya know my solution? I keep seperate email accounts for different things

. .... and if their emails start to annoy me, I let them know. (although most of my friends/family don't send me that senseless crap... one of my family members used to, but now, i think he's learned better than to believe that crap

Yup, Dallasstar is right. You should make two or even three e-mail addresses, If your ISP limits you just use yahoo.com's e-mail they give you 6mb for free...not bad. Then when you visit sites that require you to register for any reason give them the second e-mail address and only share the first one with friends and family. Thats what I do.

I had one that was taking the mickey out of them, can't remember how it went, but it ended summit like this:

send this to one person and one person will be annoyed at you for sending them this crap

send this to five people and five people will be annoyed at you for sending them this crap

send this to 100 people and 100 people will be annoyed at you for sending them this crap

etc you get the idea, anyway I found it funny

The image in the signature is to help fund the site ... cause people arent donating, or perhaps you would like loads of flashing gifs and popups all over the place? sound better? it would certainly be better for me, as I might actually get some money coming back in to help with the dedicated server.

Fund the site? How much can an old PII with a 56k connection cost? Maybe if you upgraded this site to something that resembled a decent attempt for a web site people might donate. I don't believe you should count on a hand out when you administer such a poorly run site with almost no content that you can't get anywhere else FASTER.

It would also help if most of the mods weren't rejects from other much more successful sites. I mean come on, do you think anyone really likes dig? I would suggest stop picking the first applicants, most of these guys have never had a social life outside the internet. It would help if you found some mods that have actually dated (the opposite sex) atleast once.
