Default Post Damn this whole site.

I dunno if anyone else has experienced this but sometimes the boards take a couple of MINUTES to update after posting a message. I could understand a couple of seconds BUT COME ON MAN. You thought I was teasing when I complained about zar using an old POS puter for the server... well was I? What kind of computer geek is zar? I can't believe any self respecting computer geek would let this board run so damn slow.

I have yet to experience anything of this sort. Perhaps your sub-standard AOL browser is to blame? Or could it be that your eMachine takes several minutes to display a new page?

LMAO!!!! That eMachines part...lol. But yea I would probably put the blame on either your 133mhz celeron proccesor or maybe its your connection...what you connecting at? Like 15kb/sec???

Kiss my a$$. I got a cable connect and the slowest puter I got is an Athlon 1.33. Using an XP1800 overclocked a bit right now.

Seriously:

How much space do have dedicaed to TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES??

Im on a 64k isdn from greece and find it to load in 3 to 5 secs.

Go tools/internet options/ settings and give it some more HD to work on.
Also empty this file every couple of days using the delete option.

On a 10gig partion i usually devote about 500mbs to it.

Pffft

My browsers have 0kb disc cache. Yup, 0k

Instead, I run a proxy server that has the 100mb disk cache. Why? Well, I run more than one browser but why should they be caching the same stuff when 1 application (ie a proxy server/web cache) can handle it?

ByteMe pls give me a break here okay.. just a fews then i'll go.

UberLord i like that very much i like to know more about it so pls explain a bit more..
also name of the proxy and firewall software(if any)? i think i'll use it on the XP.

on my Win2k i move the IE cache files to another partition and then use a disk caching software (SuperCache 2000) and run the cache files on ram. for Mozilla i use the ZIP version then install the whole program on caching partition so web pages will load faster when i do all that. the program isn't work with winXP.

100mb proxy server...500mb temp files on HD...blah, I use a ramdisk at 32mb for my temp files, then they get deleted automatically when I get off the puter (and off the pr0n sites).

BTW, sometimes this server does load really slow, especially noticable on stuff other than 56k. Like 768kbps DSL, sometimes the server won't respond, so in that time I download 6mb asteroids games, play a round, come back and wallah! Driverheaven is up and I'm saved!

if it bothers you so much, i don't think zardon would mind if you just bought him a new pc and sent it to him since you have so much money to buy new pcs everyday .

I also use a few others on a linux based gateway, firewall, server thingy I play with from time to time.

What it does is this - in a nutshell

Browser A requests an image
Proxy downloads the image, stores it and then sends it to Browser A
Browser B requests the same image as Browser A
Proxy already has image, so just sends it straight to Browser B

VIOLA/VOILA

A viola is a flower or a musical instrument. The expression which means "behold!" is voila. It comes from a French expression literally meaning "look there!" In French it is spelled with a grave accent over the A, as voilĂ*, but when it was adopted into English, it lost its accent. Such barbarous misspellings as "vwala" are even worse, caused by the reluctance of English speakers to believe that OI can represent the sound "wah," as it usually does in French.

IMPRESSIVE !! you did your homework..good for you I didn't even realise that it was adopted into English..tought only the French and Belgiums used the word.(also the Dutch-speaking Belgiums use the word) Dutch know the word but hardly-to-not use it.
