Just about had it with Halo PC

What is wrong with this game, seriously? Whoever ported it to PC from Xbox did the shittiest job imaginable, and then they don't even try to fix it. If the netcode was ANY worse, I'd jump up through the ceiling.

For instance, what is that lame shit where you're driving a warthog, everything is fine, then SUDDENLY, the game lags or something and then you're 25 feet ahead from where you last were, most likely in a cliff or stuck in a rock. OH, and that lame ass, BULLSHIT thing where you shoot someone, BARELY hurts them, they shoot you with SAME weapon, SAME distance, SAME health, and they kill you. What the fuck is with that?!

You know the thing that REALLY pisses me off though, are those lame ass fuel rod guns... could NOT get any cheaper than THAT. Also, the gay standard server setting where if you tk I think, 6 teammates, you get BANNED... yes, BANNED, FOREVER... even if it was your teammates fucking faults that they jumped right in front of the warthog, you're GONE.

Anyone else completely pissed off at this game? I could think of alot more bullshit things wrong with it too, but I don't have the patience.

Forgot to mention the game runs pretty bad, even on my computer. Game can't even anti-alias because of the 'way that it was made' (made CRAPPILY, yes)

What ruined this was the fact the PC port had no LAN cooperative play for the main game. it wasnt a bad port but it could have been 100x better if they had put more effort into it.

no....it's not odd.

i tried to play it on my other comp a while back..thinking "it cant be as bad as I remember"...but, yea it was. the computer was a amd2400+, 1gb memory, 5900ultra->5950ultra....i would try and run it at 800x600 on high details and it turned into a slide show 5 minutes into the game.

Man: I love Halo! I dont know why you cant run it OK on your PC, but my specs are in my signature, and it runs great for me at 800 X 600 res, and man I just love it.

Sorry you feel this way about the gaame. Actually, I think it's one of the best gaames I've ever played on PC, graphics and gameplay is great to me.

Another complaint is where you get shot with a rocket, tank shell, fuel rod gun etc., on a warthog... it flips... but then it corrects itself... and you're driving normally like nothing hapenned... Really pisses me off

btw I dont know what you people are bitching about. It runs GREAT on my computer. I use MAX resolution (which btw gets rid of the aliasing) and best graphics and it runs like a dream. I got an XP 2800+ and a 9800SE@PRO (no OCing) with 512mb of RAM. seriously i always get above 60fps. I dont know why you people are having trouble.

now the netcode...sigh thats a problem. It sucks. BUT I figured something out. The very low pingrates skip around a ton for some reason so you want to have the ping rates at around 170-250. THEN the biggest thing...DONT LIE ABOUT YOUR NETWORK SPEED!! In fact be conservative about it. If you have 512 upload GO FOR THE 356KB!!!!! It really makes a difference. Basically if you say you have more bandwidth its gunna try to USE that bandwidth and if it cant use it, then theres trouble. Ive even played this game on 56k before and it ran okay(granted not super well...if there were more than 8 people in there, you were screwed).

One last note...If you're running a listening server, DONT SET THE PLAYER RATE HIGHER THAN 8!!! I dont care how big your T3 line is...unless you got dual HT processors in your computer that actually WORK right, you arent gunna be able to do more than 8 players.

I'm sorry to all the Halo PC fans but the PC port is one of the worst pieces of software I have ever used. It's a mess; I'd gather playing the Xbox version of Halo through an Xbox emulator would be better than playing the PC port.

As for the game itself I think the single player campaign is a bit overrated; the outdoor sections of the game are very solid but once the game moves indoors it gets so repetitive I can't see how anyone can enjoy the experience.

I'm done flaming Halo PC... ahh.

If Halo 2 turns out to be good (not counting the Xbox Live portion of the game) then I'd love to see a PC port...

i think EA and rockstar are the best at this whole porting thing.....the james bond games all work well on PC(EA) as do midnight club II, GTA3, and GTAVC(Rockstar)

Agreed. It'd be funny to see Rockstar to the port of Halo 2 PC of all games. At least they have a good chance of getting it right.

I wouldn't mind a Halo 2 PC release as long as it's not as boched as the Halo (1) port.

they don't need to do that...they just need to port it, add PC type resolutions, make control mapping work...COMPLETELY REWRITE THE NETCODE, and perhaps add some high res textures
