weed... what's the big deal?

This isn't really a flame tbh... just a question that I didn't feel was suitable for the off-topic forum with the age base on this site... so I posted it in here where it should be acceptable... please correct me if I'm wrong.

Now this is a genuine curiosity of mine... what's the big deal with weed/marijuana/grass/etc... All I've heard about are the side effects and nothing about the other part

- please explain

impairs your judgement
you have fun
do things u normally wouldnt do
either too scared, or ummm in confident
feels great
takes a load off
not addicting (to me anyways)
did i mention it feels great
if you get good stuff the only side affect is that you feel great
it takes stress off
can help you concentrate

it has many uses and is great haha

there is seriously not a reason to. just get edged up on some alchohol...its a good deal safer. (unless you're one of the violent types).

weed is bad for you. it's worse than cigarettes. it doesnt have the tar, but it still has carcinogens (worse than those in tabacco), and can rape your mind.

not if it's done properly... if it's done properly it's 1/4 as carcenagenous as normal cigarettes.

it lowers inhibitions and when my kids were on that shit, they had no ambition, and they did poorly in school because they just wanted to get high, weed or booze its all for shit. Reefer is illegal, nuff said.

i would try it...it's definately an experience. i've never smoked it 1st hand, btu have had mroe then my fair share of 2nd hand smoke(the guy i spent all summer with smoked at night in the bedroom)

in very small amounts it is neat, but it can make you pretty messed up the next day or so if you do more then a little....

i in no way reccomend pickign up a havbit...but as for tryign ti just once, i think you should.

Personally, I smoked weed for...hell who knows how many times,
or for how long? 17 years?

Never did like weed that much though. Made me kind of tired,
bored, really didn't feel like doing anything. Didn't feel bad, just
...dunno kind of dreamy sleepy.

I also loathed the "friends" and people who smoked it, or sold it.
They were always the same...TV junkies...laughing at things that
were neither really funny, and certainly not clever.
IMO, it makes people, myself included when I was "high".
just...stupid. Neither creative or interesting.
(Most of the time, I just acted politely interested or amused,
got my stuff, and skated.)

It was the first "drug" I tried. I smoked Thai (Tie) Stick,
(Yes it's actually tied to a stick) See wasn't that funny
clever?

Columbian Gold (REAL GOLD...weed was actually kind of shiny,
copper colored)...and that stuff that LA has a lot of, but
can't remember the name of atm...."Indica"...I think.
Mostly it was red-haired sens. Sensamillian...however you spell
it. Never bothered to look then and won't now....

Instead of making people high, thought it made people more like
low and slow.

So for me...weed is...was...no big deal.

Now, if ya wanna know what a real drug is like....

coming to colorado or nebraska tasty? Well we got some nice herb, called 'bomb' they are da kine. very good shit, 4 hour high no tiredness or anything coming down was like waking up from a nap. not overly stoned yet feelin like im on cloud nine

Our good western canada weed ('Texada Timewarp') would take your shit to school mang. It was some crazy stuff for sure. No burnout, 4-6hr high that went by very fast. Only trouble with it was the hi munchy probability

btw, I don't smoke anymore; It was pretty cool in grade 12 and 1st year college but it really did take away my motivation to do anything. It was smoke up, play games or basketball and chill. Family didn't matter, school didn't matter, girls didn't matter. Pretty much the normally important stuff was placed on the back burner, which is why I do not smoke up anymore.

Don't waste your time starting to smoke weed if you're not. I've been smoking the past 10 years and it really screwed up what could've been good things for me. Scholarships, good jobs etc.

Just drink beer and be happy, your pocketbook will be much happier too. Take that saved cash and upgrade you're computer.....you know you want to.

It's been almost a month since I've smoked and I can almost think clearly again. It's....different, but not bad.

I smoke every day, or damned near. I love my pot, and my job position allows for my usage. As said above, and previously all over, it is all in moderation. If you're in school, have a full-time job to where you have to be straight to perform 'normally', whatever, heavy moderation is the key to having some fun yet not fucking up. Burn a pipe on the weekend, after a big test, whatever..The habit of getting stoned before classes, before that job interview, etc is where shit goes down the tubes. I dropped out of high school sophmore year largely due to that. I lost the decent job I had around the same time, and within 18 months I moved out on my own (gf and I). Shit went bad fast, and that's where a lot of the bad rap on smoking weed comes from. If you put getting stoned before grades/graduation/whatever what else can you expect? Weed doesn't MAKE you do so, it's all in how you moderate your usage. I quit smoking so much for a while and got some jobs going, my GED, some CompTIA certs, etc, and now that I am back on track without the additional pressure of school/etc I can totally hang with getting stoned daily while still making decent money. I work for myself, so I can easily take a smoke break most of the time no matter what I'm doing and not worry about getting fired or any of that stress. The proof's in the pudding - Can't wait to benchmark my a64 this week.

All in all, I think EVERYONE should get stoned once in a while - At least those that are so disgustingly indulgent in booze. That's another can of worms though itself...

Anyone that enjoys a few social drinks has a good chance at liking a buzz from a pipe/joint, if they can set aside the crazy govt propaganda.

On that topic, check out "grass" at http://www.pot-tv.net/archive/shows/...owse-1110.html . It is an excellent fact-filled walk through the past of the marijuana legislation, propaganda, and other 'war on drugs' factoids. It's a free, legal, download and available at most larger video stores, too.

I love my pot, and my job position allows for my usage. As said above, and previously all over, it is all in moderation. If you're in school, have a full-time job to where you have to be straight to perform 'normally', whatever, heavy moderation is the key to having some fun yet not fucking up. Burn a pipe on the weekend, after a big test, whatever..The habit of getting stoned before classes, before that job interview, etc is where shit goes down the tubes. I dropped out of high school sophmore year largely due to that. I lost the decent job I had around the same time, and within 18 months I moved out on my own (gf and I). Shit went bad fast, and that's where a lot of the bad rap on smoking weed comes from. If you put getting stoned before grades/graduation/whatever what else can you expect? Weed doesn't MAKE you do so, it's all in how you moderate your usage. I quit smoking so much for a while and got some jobs going, my GED, some CompTIA certs, etc, and now that I am back on track without the additional pressure of school/etc I can totally hang with getting stoned daily while still making decent money. I work for myself, so I can easily take a smoke break most of the time no matter what I'm doing and not worry about getting fired or any of that stress. The proof's in the pudding - Can't wait to benchmark my a64 this week. All in all, I think EVERYONE should get stoned once in a while - At least those that are so disgustingly indulgent in booze. That's another can of worms though itself... Anyone that enjoys a few social drinks has a good chance at liking a buzz from a pipe/joint, if they can set aside the crazy govt propaganda.
