Which is more popular Nvidia or ATI?

Which is more popular overall? I'm not talking about which company is better but which holds a bigger share of the videocard market right now?

I remember back in the day, everyone and their grandma had a 3DFX card, Nvidia had a decent following. And you'd hardly hear about ATI. Of course that was like 10 years ago.

It's a matter of opinion in which most people have their own preference really. It's hard to pick one clear cut 'winner'.

My preference is ATi currently.

There has to be one clear winner, example: allot of people like AMD better than Intel, but Intel still sells alot more than AMD. So Intel is in the lead.

Who is in the lead in videocard markets?

AMD has caught up with Intel (if not surpassed them in some cases) as far as sales are concerned. As for as nVidia\ATi your question should be who sells more. In that case I don't know the sales figures for both companies.

While everyone is intently focused on figuring out who has won the graphics war and who is wearing the graphics crown, the latest news from the two major players suggests that this time we may not have a clear winner........ATI has had the upper hand in high-end sales and currently holds over 70 per cent of that particular market....( VVVV READ MORE VVVV )

Data released Monday night by Mercury Research showed Nvidia slipping to third in the graphics market with 24.7 percent share, just behind rival ATI Technologies Inc. (Toronto:ATY.TO - News), which rose to 24.9 percent.........http://www.driverdriver.ca/modules.p...rticle&sid=253

70% is a clear winner, what is this aurthor a NV owner?

For two years now, ATI has had the upper hand in high-end sales and currently holds over 70 per cent of that particular market. But before opening the Canadian Champagne (Sparkling wine?), we should realise that this percentage, impressive though it may be, does not represent a rise in sales (Yes it does, also thier share prices are = to or greater then nvidia now)
but merely indicates that nVidia has not done enough to convince former ATI owners to switch. (yea becouse ati is better, duh )
ATI's triumph with the previous chip (Radeon 9800 XT) ( they forget 9700 pro, 9800 pro been wooping all over nv's sales) coupled with a few public relations and technical disasters by nVidia, such as the driver tampering claims (not clames, facts) and the overheating of GFX cards (eatra heat, extra power useage) when the screensaver kicked-in, created that 70+ per cent difference. (Not to mention ATI listens to it's fans and actually gives a rats Arse)

I would say ATI. One great thing they have going for them is all the 3rd party driver sets that are available. NV just doesn't have that.

I think Ati did go by Nvidia in terms of sales last year, this year well we just have to find out, but I think it's going to be a close call.

Those 6800 GT are selling like butter in sunshine (A Swedish term)

I've always been a fan of ATi...but the NVidia GeForce cards have done just as well if not better than any of ATi's hardware...

Just depends on personal taste more than anything else.
