Default Post Crucial memory 2 out of 3 defective

In February I built my current puter. Memory was pricey at the time so I only bought 256 mb, I chose Crucial pc2100 DDR memory because I was led to believe it was good quality memory. The first dim I installed was defective and my puter would not post. The next one worked fine.

In June I decided to add more memory and installed another 256 mb of Crucial pc2100 DDR memory. Shortly after installing the new memory I started to get random reboots and all kinds of errors. I removed the second memory module but the problem did not go away, so I reinstalled the memory the problem seemed to go away for periods of time but always came back. Last night I thought I would move one of the dims from slot 2 to slot 3 but no matter how hard I tried the memory would not fit into slot 3.
When I took a closer look at slot 3 I discovered that there were some foreign objects lodged in it. The foreign objects turned out to be some of the small surface mount components from the second memory module. Even after removing them I still get random reboots some times.

Crucial’s CQ Sucks!!

When I contacted Crucial’s Customer they told me they would replace the memory but could do nothing about the mb, (Soyo Dragon Plus) I expected that, but, then the person I was dealing with from customer service informs me that because I’m in Canada and they don’t have a warranty depot here that I will have to pay duty on the replacement to get it across the boarder.

Last time I ever purchase anything from those rotten f*cks at Crucial .

Sorry to hear that, but my 2 sticks of Crucial PC2100 DDR haven't let me down for over a year now. And they've been running +.5v over spec with a FSB about 15Mhz over spec. Maybe you just had some bad luck?

I'm a tech and understand that some parts are going to be defective, what has me realy pissed off is the the way Crucial handles warranty claims in Canada. If you live in Canada Crucial's customer service SUCKS.

I had the same problems with ATI as they're in Canada and I'm not.

You probably aren’t from the States then are you? It’s been my experience that ATI is completely focused on selling their products to the Us market and largely ignores Canada. All of ATI’s products are for sale in the States 6-8 weeks before they are available to the Canadian market.
