Good Luck vince3425

The other day, actually last week, I came by the website looking for drivers for my daughters new ATI 9800 Pro video card. I ran accross this message board. And decided to take a look.

I responded to a couple of threads, and then had the bad luck to have vince3425 respond to my post. I say bad luck, because the exchange grew VERY heated and then vince3425 had the nerve to threaten me. But that is OK. I offered to meet him to discuss the matter further on a more presonal basis.

Being home on a 30 day leave and having some free time, I took a MAC flight to San Diego last Thursday morning.

Now some people dont believe in fate or a grand scheme of life. But it was very fortuitous that within 5 minutes of my gettting off of the aircraft, I ran into a Marine buddy of mine from Iraq. We had become friends while serving there during the 1st Gulf War. We are both older, a little greyer, and have several more stripes since we last saw each other.

To make a long story short, he asked me what I was doing in southern California, and I explained to him about this loud mouthed punk I had run into in this forum, and how he had invited me to come out to San Diego for a face to face. My friend commented that some people just arent too bright, making threats to someone they have never met, or even seen and that he wanted to help me out, and that he would do what he could to help me locate this individual.

During the drive to his base, I explained what the argument here was about, and told him that this fellow had said at least twice, that if it came down to it, he would go to Iraq in a split second. My freind had another idea as to how to handle this LCpl Cupcake. His pet name for vince3425.

To that, my friend explained that he is now working in logistics. Actually he is reassigning personel under the presidents new Military Re-Alignment plan. As it turns out, they are looking for a few good marines to send to Iraq and Afghanistan.

And vince****, my friend remembers that ALL marines are riflemen FIRST, and that their standard MOS is secondary. He also said that they are looking to re-assign some expendable individuals, to duties other than their normal jobs. Particularly those that serve in a capacity that they have more than an ample supply of qualified and trained marines. One of those fields just happens to be Aircraft maintenance.

It took about 15 phone calls to determine the real identity of the person calling themselves vince3425 (aka LCpl Scott is not his real name) At first we found a marine named Cpl Scott Vincent. But as it turns out, Cpl. Scott M. Vincent was killed in Iraq April 30th 2004. Way to go vince3425, using the ID of a dead soldier to make your handle. If that wasnt where you got your handle, then there is a CMDR Vince Scott, an Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer in the Navy. Nope, this vince3425 isnt smart enough to be an officer. We would hope. Then as luck, or fate would have it, one of the other Marine Non-Coms (several helped us out after they heard about what we were doing) found our boy. Another Non-Com from Miramar recognized one of vince's favorite sayings. Yeah, we read just about all of your post. But finally, with some esprit de corps between the different services (Army and Marines) we figured it out.

So everyone here should wish LCpl Cupcake good luck. I watched last Thursday afternoon as his transfer papers were put into the system, for his re-assignment to a combat unit, as a ground pounder, and re-deployment to a front line unit in Iraq. The date, time of departure and his new unit are not for public dissimenation, so those details I can not speak to here.

But LCpl Cupcake, hope you enjoy your new found opportunity to serve your country at your new duty station.

Afterwards, this old soldier went down to 32nd Street with a bunch of jarheads (said affectionantly) and tied on a really good one. One of the best times I have had in a long time.

Who says you cant have good and productive inter-service rivalries ? The old vets still get along, no matter what branch the belong too. Except for the coast guard. But these young pups really should realize that screwing with an oldtimer can be dangerous.

But to Cpl Cupcake, good luck, and have fun. You should be getting your orders in the next week or so, but I wanted to be the one to give you the good news.

BTW, you said that you werent concerned about my rank in one of your threatening PMs, I guess you should have concerned yourself with what someone with my rank is able to do.

if he had really had come to san diego, like he said, he could have called the phone number i gave him. that phone number he claims is bogus, it is still working, i've used it every day this weekend and today. i'm the one who provided him with all information needed to get ahold of me yet no avail. he still won't give him his phone number so i can show him how big of a fucking retard he really is.
