sick of MSI boards
holy fuck these boards piss me off
i'm sick of the fucking issues and POOR overclocking capabilities it has. just today the thing wouldnt allow me to boot into windows, needed a BIOS flash and the whole comp wouldn't start. similar problems have happened with the fucking board. then fucking replacement takes 4-6 fucking weeks. its working now but if I o/c it numerous BIOS flashes, unplugging and turning on and off is required to get the little cunt working. my old MOBO burnt OUT after 1 fucking year, why? for no fucking reason. it was a msi ms-6188 MOBO and left me without my athlon for 2 fucking months pretty much. and when i installed an MSI GeForce 4 mx440, it completely fucked over my system, couldnt boot into windows and a whole re-format was needed just because i upgraded my card from a rage fury pro. i'm sick of MSI's dependability, the thing looks great and priced great, but fuck I don't have time to deal with this when my marks are on the line with essays saved on my comp. Don't fucking buy MSI, ASUS is top in quality and way better to spend the money. never again am I buying MSI fucking stupid FOBBISH tech support never picks up the phone and charges for long distance mufucking horse fucking dykes |

then it takes 10 bios flashes and a number of times to press on and off on the PSU to get it all working again. i tried everything (i talked to others on a diff thread) to get it working. terrible boards for overclocking, and ASUS has a much better cmos setup. although they dont look great, they are rock solid boards. gigabyte is great, but i haven't really used much of them. |

Asus and Abit are both good for intel based systems. Intel boards are rock solid to, but they are a bit "vanilla" when it comes to features.
On the AMD side of things, Epox, Abit and ECS have never done me wrong. Although, ECS is perhaps the cheapest most feature devoid boards ever concieved by man, it never did crash on me

yeah for intel stick with Asus or Abit. but for A64 go for a Asus or Gigabyte board. for me the Gigabyte boards are very stable and are very nice.
EDIT: i do have a MSI board right now. i want to Burn the fucker and bust it up. it will just make my hard drives disappear and cant load windows. the RAID controller just crashes and disappears. every month i have to reinstall everything and redo the RAID array.

I think that one should also keep in mind that the motherboard is the most complex part of a system. Expect to see some failed parts now and then. And sometimes when just a small part of a motherboard has failed one can get some really wierd issues that are hard to track down.

One reason may be the fact that they always seem to be the first people to come out with boards for the new chipsets and such.. though.. I've never had an MSI Board.. I think it's good I haven't

but 50% of the asus boards that I have purchased have failed.(that being said I've only purchased 2...and one of them was broken because the company i bought it from is STUPID STUPID STUPID!) all other asus mobos I have, I got from my uncle as hand-me-downs and they are awesome too. Older ones though for Socket-7 (LMAO!)

MSI just popped on the scene 6 years ago and aren't great. they are more cosmetics than performance

There's one thing I find peculiar about this thread.. you complain about the board you're using.. and there's and exact one that is just up for sale in the For Sale section in DH

It's like the whole "Pepsi vs. Coke" thing...you try what you like, and you enjoy it because of what it offers you. You could always think outside the box and go here to check out something else...

I've owned 3 MSI boards, and built about 10 systems out of MSI boards. Each one has worked great. I do agree though, that MSI boards are not the very best at overclocking. They like to be left alone at stock speeds.
If you're looking to upgrade, go Athlon 64. Unless that is you want to stay intel and get their more expensive LGA775s and some DDR2. Or you can get some cheap LGA775 board and hopefully find one that supports DDR1 and has an AGP slot. |

I've always felt like a beta tester when I've gone with Asus, A7V333 Raid, K8V Deluxe and A8V Deluxe all good performing boards but had "peculiarities" I didn't appreciate.

I had an msi as well. Sold it and my gf got me an asus. I should have gone with that brand in the first place. Intel is on the down hill sloop right now, I'm going back to amd sometime this year. Should I stick with asus with my amd or use another brand for the amd other than msi.
