Ok. I have been around computers for a few years now. I am very comfortable around them and I love playing Quake lll and Counter-Strike. But, I now have a delimma. My puter had Windows Me on it but I recently loaded Win2KPro. I am loving life without all the damned crashes I had with Me. But here's the deal. I have had a brand new copy of WinXP and Office XP pro editions delievered to me courtesy of the Army and the fact that the Army pays my way through school. I have heard a BUNCH of bad things about WinXP. System is:
AMD Thunderbird 1.2Ghz CPU 396 megs of Crucial PC133 Ram Geforce MX440 64 meg AGP video Integrated mobo sound CDRW-Lite on DVD-Sony My Mobo has the VIA chipset with the newest 4in1 drivers installed. My puter isn't anything fancy but it gets 140 FPS in Q3 at 1024x768. It also does all the office work I need it to do so I am happy with it. But, what would YOU do if you had a copy of Win2kPro and XP? Try it or not? Pros and Cons? Any advice if I do install XP? I just have gotten all of the updates and security patches for this setup and am happy with it. But you know men, just like with my car, I just can't leave well enough alone at times!

Hmmm. Interesting. What would be the number one Pro and Con to that? I have never setup a dual boot system, but I am sure I can find out enough on the net to help there. I have two 40 gig H/D's in the puter here. Would I use them both, one for each, or partition the Primary drive into two separate drives and use my slave drive as storage only.... |

I don't really know. I've been a stubbon-as-hell 98se hold-out, and when I finally gave in to the temptation of XP it pretty much just automatically set it all up very nicely for me. Once I add linux to the mix I imagine I might be able to help ya more.

You would probably be satisfied with XP but I would agree with Dig and Dual Boot the 2 Os's. That way you could test out which one you like most and perhaps install that OS as default.

This isn't exactly flame warzone material
Due to some flame warzone like replies I'm closing this thread in the hope that it will be reposted in a more relevant forum
