Suit: Video Game Sparked Police Shootings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. Feb 15, 2005 — A lawsuit claims the video game "Grand Theft Auto" led a teenager to shoot two police officers and a dispatcher to death in 2003, mirroring violent acts depicted in the popular game.

The suit announced Tuesday seeks damages from the game's manufacturers and two stores that allegedly sold it to Devin Thompson, now 18.

An attorney for relatives of two of the victims said Thompson, who is charged with murder, had played the video game repeatedly.

What about blame society for putting such stress on the people, that they just snap and go put and kill?

My bro played these games for months, so one should assume that he already commited numbers of kills, readkills and such - yet nothing happend, so...?

So it is about people, happines and society as whole. Canadians have same easy access to arms as in US, however they did not shoot each other.

fucking stupid parents let the kids play the game, lot of kids are fucking stupid. if they go around doing stupid shit like this its the parents fault, if your old enough its your own fault. i dont go around trying to take out peeps that got beef wit my crews just because i saw it in GTA, suprising how fucking stupid you really can get.

#1 it's 101% his fault not the games, in any way
#2 you have to be 18 to buy that game, as it say he wasn't 18
#3 he wasnt 18 so his mommy or daddy bought if for him or someone else again not the fault of the store or gamemaker.

And has anyone noticed there's always that one game that's "cool to blame"?

A few years ago it was Postal, now GTA, I remember when a little cult game called "Parasite Eve" came out and it was cool to blame that too.

Video Games don't kill people....impressionable kids stuck in an altered state of reality with oblivious parents who own a gun rack do.

actaully when i bought the first grand theft auto, it said 18 right on the box, even though i kow you ave to be 17 to buy mature games. idk why, maybe because it was lot more violent some other M games, and you could poick up whores and screw em in your car?

people need to start learning to be PARENTS.

i can "safely" say that my parents never did and still never do anything with me. Never took me out anywhere, or did anything with me... Still hurts...

now they wonder why i dont like them at all. Talked to them about it, told them about quality time, and they said "what do you mean? we took you to places.... in the car. To friends places" and ive just gone "yeah, thats quality time isnt it? 15 minutes every 1 month. Alot of fun we had."

they just shut up.
