The design? Hype. That's the design.

I agree, sony's attitude is just BS, the whole "we want to revolutionize the living room by putting cell in everything" attitude is just messed up, I want to play games and maybe watch movies, i don't want my console talking to my tv and sound system to "better integrate the living room." MS is doing the whole console as center of the living room thing, but not nearly to the extent that sony is. and nintendo isn't a viable option, they haven't had a good system since the snes.

microsoft tries too hard used MTV to promote their game console, also it barely even went over the technical aspect of it. what the fuck is the use of using celebrities to come and play games. ps2 has outsold xbox so many times they never do that. microsoft isnt any different, they think their going to use their new 360 as a media center in every home.

im not happy with sony's attitude either, but microsoft is far worse when it comes to xbox 1. the system like ive said before uses their games to show off the prettyness. thats my OPINION.

Cause I hate sony. their new rig will cost like 800 just to make, so they are just uber hyping this up. they are aiming for 400. so its either lose 50% in market on the console or cut it back till its the equivalent of 360 just uglier and more expensive. I'm getting all 3 systems because fanboys suck. I like to live in a world where 3 companies fight to make games for me. Competition means companies have to fight to create new and innovative and better looking crap for you to play. If there were only one console manufacturer there would still be a fair amount of competition between the individual game companies but I think it would deal a crippling blow to any sort of creativity and innovation. A world where there is only one console is a sad world indeed.

on a related note: my ps2 stopped being able to play DVDs less than a month after I bought it. lollers

Microsoft has and is still literally loosing many billions just to get a small marketshare of consoles. And they expect to be loosing even more with xbox360, and they have afford.
They want in.

PS3 is aiming to replace your PC and Bill Gates Ass by making it possible to install whatever operating system you want , and you will get a very good gaming hardware too. its not a toy for noobkids who never had or cant afford a PC.
Now aiming that high takes balls these days.
Sony could get really hurt if they dont bring the open OS/software, and seems they are gonna go in full contact in this battle.

PC and Microsoft have wiped out all competition in their area last 15 years, im looking forward to this fight. It´s still a fucking wonder how the hell Apple survived this far.
When 2 large companies like this collides in a fight, consumers will gain the most during battle. Stop complaining.

Well, I lovd Granturismo, but hated the way PS2 looked,.. just ugly. And when they went silver it then was 'tacky' and ugly.
But when they went size 8 sexy on the ps2, guess what, I bought it! Simply for the way it looked. I've only even bought one game for it, and that was GT4. I actualy owned the consel for about a mounth with out having any games to play on it. And i've not bought anything since GT4.

GT4 was the main reason I bought small PS2. but I sertanly would not have bought it if it still looked as ugly as ugly as it did when the PS2 first turned up.

As for X-box, I injoyed playing halo on the x-box more than when i played it on the PC, but I bought halo for the PC when it came out, simply for the online play. it's good fun.

As for 360, I'll just wait for the halo games to come out on PC. I see no point waisting money on another x-box if the games are released l8r on PC. And I might get PS3, only because you won't find Granturismo on anything else. and that's the only game I shall evey want to play on it.

honestly the PS3 having the G70 means dick. so what if it has the ability to make things look pretty?! I think the Gamecube was the best technologicaly out of all of the current 3 systems and it looked pretty much like ass! the ps2 had shit for a processor (wasnt it 200mhz? yes I think so) and sure it had an alright graphics system but the point is that they developed LOTS of GOOD games. In reality, the PS2 never won on graphics. It won on RPGs. PS2 LIVES on RPGs. If sony forgets that, the PS3 will be hosed.

Basically its all about the games. As long as they get good games, the hardware means very little. What i'm worried about for Sony's sake is that they are using some very new and also very DIFFICULT hardware. Not many people know how to make things for Cell. its not just a matter of recompiling the sucker and being done. Cell is fundamentally different from most processors ANYWAY. So really they arent going to be cranking games out much at all for awhile. I'm betting they'll have 5 release games and then it'll take em 6 months before the next batch. Sure it'll pick up after a bit but ONLY if those 5 games in the beginning kick ass and whet people's appetite enough.

as for MS...I actually think they'll do alright. I dont think they're in any danger. They have FPS and they're on a platform thats pretty easy to develop for. I mean heck they could get all of the old Apple employees that are gunna lose their jobs after their PPC skills arent needed (apple is moving to intel for anybody that doesnt know...). Its not as strong as X86, but hey they didnt want people making $200 PCs.
