PC's ARE MEANT TO MAKE LIFE EASIER!!!???

OK, not quite so spectacularly expensive as tipstaff's problems, but smack my ass and call me george w, it's annoying.

Having now RMA'd 2 9600 pro's,
bought new hard discs to replace that noisy monstrocity maxtor,
new memory,
formatted and re-installed windows,

I fire the thing up and pop a driver disc in. It crashes.
I start again. I pop a driver disc in. It crashes.
I start again. I try every damn disc in the room. It crashes.
I make sure that the drive is properly connected, drivers, jumpers sorted etc.
Nothing.

I swap it for my gf's cheap shit dvd drive and guess what!!
The cheap dvd drive works perfectly in my computer, and my RIDICULOUSLY overpriced Sony dvd writer works perfectly in my gf's shuttle.

Think I'll give up and ask my brother if he still has his old 66mhz 386 lying around. Never had any problems with that.

fuck man! That sucks. Seriously I mean weird stuff happens like that all the time though. Back while ago my dad wanted me to fix his computer cause it was crashing all the time. No reason why. I replaced everything and it kept on doing it!

Finally I figured out the problem. SOMEHOW a PS\2 mouse...regular old mouse...was CRASHING IT! I took the mouse out...put in a different one...and it works! Now its an HP piece of shit, so its not perfect but its MUCH better now.

Aw come on you didn't actually believe that total BS about computers being good for society did you, now really though.
But in all actuality good luck with the drive, though I will tell you if you have the DVD burner I think you have then it is awesome.

I think I have a 'Demon Seed' situation here. (it's not tried to rape me yet though)

The computer just fucking hates me. It's probably because I put a silver fan controller in a gloss black Antec Sonata case.

Come to think of it, I probably deserve it for that.

In my defense, I wanted the black Aerothingy from microdirect, but for the last [color=red]3[/color][color=red] months[/color] it's been listed as being available in '2-3 days'. Lying bastards.

I am not a "frazzled, hairless wrecks SCREAMING at that box next to your monitor because it won't do a fucking thing that it's supposed to." my computer is a laptop so I'm a frazzled, hairless wrecks SCREAMING at that flat peice of plastic attached to the bottom of my moniter.

I've felt the need, but fortunalty my laptop decided to start smoking (seriously, outta the power supply) so the humor/despair of that caused me to not have that desire. also fortunatly gateway decided to replace my computer with the goodness of this one, but only after I had to write a snailmail letter to them, so i guess there is more of that whole not making life easier
