P-4 does some things good

P-M does some things good

To say one is better is foolish, it depends on your needs, mine says P-M is the best option, but for many people here (gamers) AMD is the best

AMD is better for gaming, and Intel is better for encoding DVD's, and photoshop, although the dual core Athlons are blurring that line.

pentium Ms are beating AMD in some sectors though. They DEFINATLY win clock for clock, thats for sure.

but yea some things are better for some people than for others, but lets think about this logically.

HOW many billions of dollars go into marketing games?

and how many millions of dollars go into marketing DVD encoding. in some cases not even a million dollars.

DVD encoding is NOT a person's priority. Gaming is far more popular. If you arent gaming and you arent encoding, you're probably surfing the web and checking email. For THAT...you could use any of the processors (though I admit that HT has something to it, its not really THAT useful)

The truth of the matter is that AMD chips are generally cheaper EVEN with them having a lower market share.

Now I have some pentium processors in my house...annnddd some AMD processors in my house (we even had some Via procs here for a bit) and soon I'll have some IBM procs here. Its all good for different things. JEEZ.

ive had more fun with an AMD then i did with intel. although, if i was to do heavy graphics editing intel is my choice. AMD just offers same or better performance for a more reasonable price. but intel is ahead of them MOST OF THE TIME in terms of innovation. the amount of changs made to the P4 i would say qualifies it as a pentium 5

You know what I noticed.... it's !usually! AMD and ATI, or Intel and Nvidia.... weird.... that doesn't count SLI, if you have SLI, you probably have an AMD FX.

I gotta disagree with you, especially because the linux freaks i know are all AMD + nVidia 100%. But as far as on windows i see about equal amounts of both, and on laptops i see way more Intel + ATi combos.
