Pissed Some times I hate Linux...

I use WinRAR for compression. This week my PC is down due to upgrade. I need to RAR some files on my laptop. Okay look around, find WinRAR for linux..k so I download it. Wow, they want me to pay for a program that has no GUI? Is this 1992? Whatever, I should be able to figure this out. Spend 15 minutes looking through a text file about the switches, and what not. Just wishing they would just show me a good example. Of course not! So screw it I guess the files won't be rared, and Linux will as yet stay on my laptop because the only thing it's still good for is Internet, and Office type shit. A perfect example why Linux has a long way to go to even compete with windows.

Windows Rar time 20 seconds
Linux Rar time 35 minutes.

I use gentoo and what's so bad about terminal they are more problem free than using guis. I find in linux GUI = Mostly bad, terminal = best way. Read manuals and stuff. I use gentoo and im' 13 and can use terminals etc. In gentoo it's as easy as emerge winrar and unrar file.

The problem I had at the time was that I wanted to do this in a hurry. So I didn't have time to sit down or post a message about how to do it. If the WinRAR would of had just an example of how to do then I would have figured it out.

I hate linux alot of times. Like if you get a specific distro with a specific purpose (such as Knoppix for wifi hacking...*ahem* "security assessment" thats right. NOT HACKING! LOL. ...or Geexbox for media players) its all good but if you want a general OS, you really do have to be a freakin genius or REALLY LUCKY with your hardware set to get linux working. Linux freaks that have your comptuers working, please just dont even speak. The MAJORITY of people cant get it working and never will with the way it works now. Even Windows ME is preferable to the current state of linux.

The other day I FINALLY figured some shit out with it, but man its really frustraiting. There are so many things that you just expect to work (power management, ethernet, CD drives etc) that DONT.
