iPod video

OK, I know I don't hang out in here much, and try and behave myself, but jesus tapdancing christ I hate these things. Lets take a look at these god awful machines:

Features:
Big hard drive - the better to store your pr0n on
Tiny screen - the better to go blind staring at
Same piss poor white earbuds - the better to look cool hile enjoying your pr0n
USB/Firewire connectivity - for slow transfer of big files, liek TV Shows(note: Firewire is an additional $40 cable)

Now then...what possible good does this do?

NONE

When have you ever been walking around and all of a sudden needed to whip out a movie/tv show/music video and watch it RIGHT THEN on a tiny ass 2.5" screen. I suppose if your insecure enough to want to make Ron Jeremy a mere 28 pixels long, be my guest, but for the love of god, why?

I'll tell you why: because Sony did it on the PSP. Same gimmicky piece of shit idea. Movies.....at retail prices just like DVDs....that can only be watched on a screen the size of a credit card on a battery gulping device that you have to constantly hold in your hand, because layign an LCD down usually puts it beyond the distortion angle of view(usually 45 degrees or so on those little screens)

So we now have 2 crappy little devices that play video.....but Sony's atleast plays games(and mp3's too)...making it useful(and oddly enough, cheaper then an iPod video

)

In parting, I just hope you all now see how absolutely useless the iPod video is.

And to those who have one: you suck...buy a laptop

actually PJ i think this is more a response to iRiver enabling video support on international H3xx models

They broke so much else when they did that (DRM, mainly) that I really don't think it was ever much of a threat, especially since we over here in the US of A buy more then our fair share of such devices anyways

but even on the iRivers, they do other stuff. THey don't cost as much, they come with everything you need, and they aren't bought because they have cool TV Spots...they are bought because they are a good product.

Well a good product doesn't mean sales PJ. Apple has marketing and iRiver isn't even HEARD of in my country. Tis sad I know but apple is acting like microsoft. Linux is better but microsoft knows how to sell. And in this case, Apple knows it's shit

huh mine came with all that stuff (minus case. belt clip came with it tho)

and all ipods have a built-in voice recorder if you know how to get to it.

Oh yeah, and ipods have EQ\bass booster. albiet not the best, but they have em.

dont get me wrong, I think the ipod video kinda sucks but still.

Well my I have one of the first 20gb and I will never go color or probably never buy another. It caries an insane amount of songs and I just leave it in my car where it does not use any battery when the car is off and charges whe nthe car is on. Almost as good sound quality as a CD on my car stereo (not using a tape adapter). It is about the same as CD with the right eqaulizers. I'm goin to keep this for a while because its cheaper than buying cds and burning the info from my comp and eventually throwing them out the window at Pedestrians. I still think the Nano is for girls and I will be gettin my girl one for christmas, or maybe a digital Camera. A Video Ipod is useless, What I would like to do is wire the Ipod Hard drive to the PSP memory Stick port oooo yeah.

actually, i think they completely removed the EQ from the current generation iPods(color/video/nano)

the international model never had DRM, so nothing was broken - the US model was crippled though, the USB host function (usb 1.1) became the sync port to wmp - slowly sync via wmp rather than a quick copy over to a usb hard-drive

Lol, I usually download tv shows/movies through torrent in my pc, and then I go to my bedroom and watch it with my laptop by streaming it, its that fast of wireles internet

oh and its worth it, fuck Ipodvideo, its not like they have discovered a TV on a watch... lol, and PSP has the same fucking issue, and the fact that you have to buy more accessories that need to be included, it fucking turns into a slot cum machine wallet deteoriter made by sony or the iPod company MAC!

Well I got to try out my friend's ipod video today. Ummm...wow they're really nice. I dunno guys...it plays REALLY NICE quality video. No you dont NEED it, but its not any more expensive than the old ipod was so whats the deal??? I wouldnt buy it as a video player, but an MP3 player that ALSO plays videos? Its like a bonus feature which is what they're shooting for (since the portable media player industry sucks ass right now)

I played with one in best buy again, and still find the idea of "video" on a 2.5" screen all but useless, and I think PSP is the worst, because they amrket movies for it(UMD discs)....

who in the HELL buys a movie for retail DVD price that can't be played beyond 3 inches big?
