well I'm glad mafia only uses safedisc (I bought it for our kid for xmas), that's a piece of piss to get around. I haven't put the original DoW disc in any machine since I got it.

I really don't like the direction new anti copy is heading.
I like to be be aware of everything I install on my comp!

the whole thing with music cds as well, it's not on.
the last Beastie's album I bought (5 boroughs) automatically installed it's own media player and defaulted to only using that when I put the disc in

not difficult to get by, but damned annoying none the less.

something needs to be done to combat piracy (a look through ebay will convince you of that ) , but I don't think that they're going about it in the right way.
mostly, the efforts they make at the mo just piss off honest users who only want evrything to work properly, and back up the odd game disk.

In all honesty though, I wouldn't mind working for Ubisoft, given a choice between them and EA. If I get a spot at Epic, that'll be even sweeter

True so would I but now that ubisoft says it'll use starforce, it does sorta hurt their reputation and all (for me).

What they don't get about that though is 99% of the target audience for that won't have ever heard of Bit Torrent or know how to use Windows Explorer, and still uses Internet Explorer for all their internet browsing.

Typical users would also be on AOL and have integrated graphics.

I don't even see a need for piracy protection on something like that, especially considering it will cause problems for those who aren't likely to know how to solve them

If you guys think Starforce is shitty, you should see their actual games.

King Kong for PC doesn't work, and if it does it's at 2 FPS (On a 7800GTX, mind you).
Spliner Cell Coop for PC wont work for 95% of people who've tried, and that's 1/3 of the game down the drain.
The other multiplayer portion is full of glitches, poor netcode, and optimised-for-gamepad input controls. The game has had 4 patches, the extra Coop maps didn't work for XBox, and have fatal bugs in the PC versions (if it works AT ALL).

Way to go Ubi. I'd rather give my money to EA.

Is that the highres edition? Because here are the -minimum- requirements:
  • Processor: Pentium® IV 3.0 GHz or AMD 3000+ or better
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • Video Card: 3D 256 MB, supporting Pixel shader 3.0 and Vertex shader 3.0
  • Sound Card: DirectX® 9.0C compatible, EAX 3.0
  • DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0C
  • Hard Drive Space: 5.4 GB
  • ATI X1800/NVIDIA 6800 or better
So basicly, you need SLI to run it at high.....

D2D has a low rez version to make for a smaller download (literally 1/4th), but the PC retail release of King Kong comes with everything.

BTW, those High Rez screenies, they don't do the game justice. The game looks better than that in high rez, and runs just fine on my machine.
