I would honestly hope so. It would be good to have some more competition, aside from ATI and nvidia, could get quite interesting

THe matrox are gonna be good, i havent a doubt, of course seeing some specs would be good but I just have a feeling theyl be nice. its good to see them back in action anyway.

Actually, this forum is rather nice because of the lack of flames. Seems to be the nice guys who buy cards for games and not because its their religion

Saying that I flamed someone in the nVidia section for posting a screen full of bold text. Goes to show that nVidia owners are not only dumb, but socially inadquate as they need to post bold just to make sure that they are seen boasting and bragging that they can afford the latest stuff they pass off as "good". Kinda like richboys driving around in porches in the vain hope that they can bag a dumb blonde

well if the new matrox lives up to the hype it could realy do some damage to both nvidia and ati.
some intresting things i seen in a spec sheet was 128 bit color 256 megs ram and very fast clock speeds if the drivers are good it will at the very least give nvidia and ati a run for our money ie they will have to drop prices and work on truely better products

Okay, it's all nice and dandy that you all think Matrox is cool or whatever, but nobody posting on this thread seems to know a DAMN thing about what the upcoming card is really about.

Parhelia is MUCH more significant than just "256-bit DDR and high clock speeds!" If rumors prove to be true, Parhelia will be a 128-bit COLOR card, TripleHead (that's THREE monitors, kiddies!), be capable of placing 32 textures simultaneously, and will support AGP 8X and 16XFSAA. This isn't what we're used to -- we're using to seeing baby steps. This card is practically extraterrestrial technology compared to what's on the market now.

So, yes, you're right Matrox will OWN. But you didn't really know why, did you? :o

yep i knew all that i just dint feel like reposting all the info that im sure 90% have already seen.
i thought i read that it was quad head display.
as for 128 bit color depth thats gona be intresting theres gona be a few apps that decide they dont like it to well heheh.
the ram is what i find quit nice 256 megs man thats gona be great for working with 3d programs like max and true space coupled with high clock speeds this card should suit the gamer as well as the 3d profesional perfectly.
As for driver support i dont know what the matroxes after say 95 96 are like as i havent used one sence then and at that time drivers were drivers and that bout it very few updates now its update driver introduce new features and change performance totaly.
SO for drivers ill have to wait and see if the card is at the right price ill likly buy one.
But i cant justify a 500 dolor card purchase when i can get a ati aiw 128 megger for 240 that i know will have the fetures i need and want as my main comp is primarly a multimedia machine even servs the roll as a house wide entertainment system as well as playing games.
