Worst Game of 2005?

Since there's no possible way to list all the games that could imaginably be considered for this less than stellar award, I won't start this as a POLL.

Rather, if you've played at least 10 new games over the past year (2005) which of those became "deadware" after only a brief time of playing?

If you want to list multiple games, list them with the WORST one FIRST.

50 cent game
Gun
F.E.A.R. (because of support and inefficient engine)
Rainbow Six Lockdown for xbox (dunno when that came out but I played it in 2005)
and pretty much every single crappy urban title + all the series of games that took a nose dive because they wanted to be trendy

Edit: Out of that I choose 50 cent game.

Are you kidding? FEAR was one of the best single player games of the year.

For horrible games my votes go for Stubbs the Zombie on PC and I hated the demo for Timeshift. I do the best I can to avoid crappy games.

Run of the mill FPS'. Namely COD2. Paid $60, finished it in a few days, unimpressed with sameold gameplay and story (or lack thereof), and ho-hum multiplay.

I honestly liked Area 51 you know... I reviewed it and enjoyed it somewhat. And everyone has different tastes Necro

FEAR was horrid... Not in the sense that it was the worst game but it had such hype and turned out to be so mediocre and lame.

I just couldn't get past the graphics compared to what was shown on TV. The only thing I will say about Fear & COD2 was all the bugs drove me nuts.

Worst game of 05, STALKER!

The abundence of awful comercial games fronted by movie stars and rappers was a big disappointment to me. But the big problem I had this years was, you guessed it, DRM. 2005 was ripe with obtrusive methods of copy protection that really took any excitement out of the initial purchase of a game. It probably started back with HL2, but it continued with COD2 and FEAR. So thats my view, not one bad game, just a bad industry. Lets just hope 06 gets it right.

Agreed, i like Fear i just cant really run it well until i get a X1900.

Timeshift demo looked great, but was complete trash.

I think im the only one who has not tried any bad game. 05' was a great year for me. Well, the 6 game I bought, which are : Day of Defeat : Source, FEAR, Call of Duty 2, Battlefield 2 + Special Forces and Quake 4. No worst game for me.... I recently bought World of Warcraft but its from 04'.

I liked Area 51 too. And that is a good point about hype. Thats is why I was dissapoited with COD2 and others. I expected alot and did not get what I thought was "awesome". I think after HL2, FarCry, GTA:SA I was spoiled and its hard to play a game after those ones have raised the bar so high.

Yeah, I've always wondered what the big deal was with that game. I know people spend 98% of thier lives playing it but I've always assumed it was a nerd game. I just don't see the appeal.

Out of all the games of 2005 that I had tried out, Perfect Dark Zero was the worst IMHO. For some reason, it felt nothing like the original to me. The story line was rediculously lacking, the aiming system was horrible, and the multiplayer mode brought nothing new to the table that I have not seen before. The game looked like it was rushed. I say this because the maps and special effects are stunning, but the character models look like painted plastic.

GUN (Gameplay and graphics sucked. When are they going to stop porting console games to the PC. what's funning tho, their selling point was they are the makers of the Tony Hawk series. So being the makers of the Tony Hawk series means you can make western games?)

FEAR (Too many bugs and way over hyped. Monolith needs to make a game like the first blood)

In my opinion BF2 was the worst...

I simply can't withstand the bugs in the game, the huge (+ delayed patches) and the always nice "Reset to Desktop once in a while feature"

People have mentioned a bunch that I would have to agree with like Crime Life, 25 to Life, Land of the Dead, but for me the worst game was the one that was actually ok until it got patched. That game being SWAT 4.

Anyone read the posting about the deal Midway has made which would see streaming ads added to their games? Well Sierra/Irrational Games did it first with SWAT 4. After the 1.1 patch Sierra added, and I quote, "Added Massive Streaming Ad Support". But hey didn't just add real ads, they added ads that would contact a central server after the game was completed inorder to inform advertisers how long gamers spent looking at the ingame ads. Check THIS artcle out for more. Shame on you Sierra.

SWAT 4 gets my vote for worst game of 2005.

People should of took the game back and demand a full refund because of this.

The ingame ads in SWAT4 were ugly and horribly distracting, they took you out of the experience. The game itself was great and the expansion is much better.
