bad engines?

About a month ago I was looking for help in this forum because I was dissatisfied about my new pc stuttering in most of all new games.
3800+,Geforce 7800 should be at least good enough to play games like quake 4, serious sam 2 or battlefield 2. It was never a problem with the framerate, every object on the screen was moving as it should, but if you move your own character, you can watch the same objects being jerky as u pass them by.
Oh thx a lot for the help I have got here to fix my hardware, but my friend has got exactly
the same phenomenon and his system is totally different.

The only thing I want to know now is, are there any other ppl, too, who recognize this kind of problem?

Are these both custom built machines by you and your friend?

If so, make sure you install all the newest drivers for everything. It's really easy to forget to install drivers for your motherboard and other onboard components. the easiest way to check this is to go to the device manager under your system properties.

That sounds like you haven't installed your chipset driver. Could be wrong here, but I have seen that very same thing happen.

For instance. If you browse a website, the smooth scrolling is really choppy.

I second what Nacht recommended. Install the newest drivers for everything. Also, check the mobo manufacturers site for newer drivers for the onboard components.

BTW.. Which 3800+ are we talking about here X2 or regular? Did you install the CPU Driver for the X2 if it is indeed a X2 3800+?

That could be a possibility as well. You may have to update to the multi-processor HAL.

I get that problem sometimes. Reinstalling the video drivers usually fixes it.
