100% no lol-i've never used anything like gamespy-closest thing was msn gameing zone for mech warrior 3 after noone used the in-game browser

I use to use it back in 2001 - 2003, I played Y.A.R.N on there and poker and just chatting but that got boring. I just went straight to regular irc and that wasn't much better. Hey let's see how long I can idle before my connection drops

. I think most people use X-Fire. It's like gamespy but better from what I have heard of people in the gaming community. The First time I used it the name I picked and password ended me up using someone elses account which freaked me out some. I'm not a hacker, I just picked a name and password, If it is that easy to take accounts then no thanks..

I never ever ever use Gamespy, except for Battlefield 2 which has it built-in to their game.

when it's "part of the game" the game is just using the gamespy network to browse games. This isn't the same thing as gamespy arcade (the program you're asked to install). I'm pretty sure he was just referring to gamespy arcade.

well i voted yes, but i'm not sure if i should have. I thought you needed it to play online games such as BF2 and stuff....am i wrong???

No. I have never and never will install gamespy arcade to play games online. It's supposed to act as a communication/friends list/game finder outside of the game itself...but there's alot of excess crap bundled with it.

Most EA games come with it optionally, but it is not required to play online. The game itself may say "Powered by Gamespy", but the in-game browser and GameSpy Arcade do not need each other to function.
