Battle for middle earth 1+2 problems

Sorry for being basic, but.. The games decides that I should be playing with the graphics at a High quailty. Yet when I do, a few minuites into the game the buildings and scenery start to glitch across the screen, i got a low FPS and occasional crashes. It looks like my graphics card is overheating, but why should it ? The only way I can get rid of this is to set the graphics to very low. Now I would understand if my card can't handle the textures, but it can when I first start the game.

Even if i turn down all the Special FX (shadows, water, particles etc) in the option menu, I still get the glitches. Is this a known problem? and how can I fix it? Or do I just have to play in Low quality all the time? Which is anoying as Im not using my card to its full capabilities.

Now I got catalist drivers 6.2 atm. Will upgrade soon, but it has been going like this since i can remember, so I'm not expecting anychange.
anyone else got any ideas? my details are...

G-Card: ATI Raedon 9800pro 128mb
RAM: 1gb
Processor: IntelPent4, 3ghz ht
OS: Win XP pro.

All driver are updated. Its the only game which is doing this. AOE3 can run top quality, and COD2 runs fine. all of my games can in fairness, just these two.

I also have problems with BFME 1&2 but they are usually characterized by system lockups and judging from various game forums it is a common thing for this series.

If you are not having any problems with other games (eliminating a bad driver install) I'd say try using a different driverset perhaps omegadrivers or even an older ATI driver series but otherwise just wait for the patch which will be out this week.

already got omegadrivers m8. but if its a common problem then not much i can do about it i guess. If the problem has been running since BFME1 i recon there wont be much changes for BFME2 as patches go.
I'll just wait til i upgrade my card.

Ya thats about the conclusion I came too myself. BFME is from '04 and if it ain't fixed yet it never will be.
