Will Piracy bring an end to Single Player gaming?

Sorry, my guy in Oblivion is a pirate. These guys were lookin at me funny so I shot em in the head with an arrow and took his sweet sword with the skull and crossbones on it and started terrorizing the f*ckin city. It was great...

When games stop provide Single Player then they will be officially Dead for me

Single player is neccesary for me especially in RPG kind of games
Multiplayer comes second to none

Ditto, I prefer the old style expereince you'd get exploring a game and getting into it rather than competing with others online.

I also agree....if there is no single player mode, I don't buy the game. I haven't played games online in years (Nintendo DS excepted, it's online modes are very sterile) and I don't plan to start. Never played an MMO ever.

The way PC games are getting.....invasive protections, FPS-this-strategy-that, requiring mega-spec PC's, needs a patch before it will run, overly-complicated, lack of gamepad support, multiplayer-only, etc. PC gaming has already all but died for me.

But then again, I tend to have an eccentric taste in games. I generally HATE the games that get produced most on PC (FPS/strategy/RTS) and the games I like generally everyone else hates, so MY opinions will be considered ridiculous to most gaming gurus.

this is a interesting thread...........

if single player goes i go. i mean i dont have internet at home(only at work.) and even if i did it would be to expensive for me to play online. in the SA we only have one tellephone company so thats the reason it so expensive.....so there is no way ill be able to play online. think about it this way if piracy was not there dont you think that the developers will have the abillity to sell the game at a very high price...because of there not being somthing to make them considder there prices.............

It's an interesting thought but if you look at piracy in the movie and music business the prices have not gone down at all. I think developers will just put less money/effort into games so they get more returns despite piracy.

which will end my gaming on the pc. the only online game i play is gw. 3 reasons - great game, can play single, no monthly fees. if any one of these was to change i would be gone.
i just dont understand people that pay $35 -$50 for a game then pay a monthly fee to play it. the game ends up costing a ridiculous amount of $.
i have problems paying what i do for games then getting something that is poorly designed &/or buggy. let alone paying extra for the problems.
