Over at the PC Gaming forum in Rage3D there's like 5 different complaint threads regarding GTA3 on the PC. I'd hold off for a little while and maybe wait for a patch to be released before picking it up.

Yes definently wait for a patch, I have the PC version but noticed the memory leaks and choppyness however, its not that bad for me. Other than that its a sweet game!

Yeah it's a good game, I actually paid for it (woahh...). Even though it suffers from some graphical incompatibilities, it is still a very good game. I had to go through plenty of procedures to get my game running with adequate performance with full draw distance. If you don't want to spend money now, it's best you wait until a patch comes out which should provide more than enough fixes.

Its a very fun to play game but you really need to tweak your gfx-card and the game settings to get it run a little smoother and its a real cpu hog.
When running on my pc it uses 100% cpu power, specs below.

Some people have been having a great deal of problems with the game. But for some reason it runs great for me. If I were you I would wait for a patch though, as brc64 said there are just way too many people having probs

hmm...
when i actually do some into the game it works perfect but 80% of the times i cant even start it... it just skips right back to windows after the first movie (when you are about to get to the menus) any ideas?

and does anyone know if there is a nocd crack for the audio cd... it just SO annoying to plop that CD in each time and on top of that my cd-rom (that actually is a CD-rw) sounds like HELL when it spins up due to the cooler in the cd-rw (which i hate).

if they had've waited a couple of months and released a game with decent graphics performance and a network option it could've been one of the best games ever is the sad thing.....

Yes! Most people over there seem to concure that there's a massive memory leak issue. Generally speaking, those with more ram can play longer without issues. So if you've got a gakload of ram (like my gf does - 2gigs), and you really want it . . . maybe its not so bad? Playable in the meantime (while you wait for a patch)?

Default Post THANK YOU!!!!

For the link to get the radio onto my hard-drive, me HATES needing an f-ing CD in for a game I pirated fair & square!

GREAT game! I just got it today and haven't had any problems with it on a PIII800@944 with a GF3. I'm running 98se w/512MB and I can play for at least an hour and a half
without any problems & it looks & runs very nicely. (Not to mention oodles of fun, I was a big fan of the first game. )

Thank you again for the link, it's appreciated and it helped me a lot!

Default Post 3D Analyzer and GTA3

GTA Scraper mentions of a tool called 3D Analyzer that enables you to force software TNL in GTA3. It actually results to a significant increase in the frame rate (it did for me, I can enjoy the game now).

The 3D Analyzer Tool was created and refined to overcome limitations posed by modern 3D Games and other Applications on several current mainstream 3D Cards. Basic functionality will equip non-T&L cards with a software substitute. Advanced functionality will enable User selectable 3D Features not available in many older Cards. Yet, this is presently achieved not by Emulation but by NUL-Rendering. This means, advanced 3D Features the Card is not capable of, are reported as available in Hardware, but have their calls intercepted and the respective 3D Features will not be rendered. These functions are based upon the premise and ideas, that :
- 3D Games can be launched, that otherwise would fail due to lack of Hardware support.
- No 3D Game should solely rely on a few, isolated rendering features, and therefor loss of image quality by NUL-Rendering 'should' be minimal and acceptable in most cases.

Even, if you are not interested in GTA3, I would recomment to experiment with it in your games or other 3D applications (i.e. 3D Mark2001SE).

Default Post Tanks!

I'm downloading it now. It was playing smooth for me up until I installed the newest intel app accel beta last night...

You already have the no-cd patch that really doesn't use the CD, right?
