Ok so, I gave it a go... not likly to play it again till release however... As for new guns. I like the famas... seems pretty balanced and a welcome addition.

The gali makes the AK almost defunct... as it takes no skills. It seems to fire like a machine gun cone but with more heavy hitting bullets like the ak. Anything but far range this gun is unstoppable.

The riot sheild... Hmm, well, I can put a bullet through a huge wall with the AWM... Yet not through a tac sheild? I mean shouldent the person at the very least be stunned at the mighty wrath of the Awp? Well ,also we tested it and you cant shoot anyone through the little hole in the tac sheild... Which sucks.

Oh, and they made the machine gun more powerful and accurate. So, watch your butt if you notice me in your server... I may jsut cap you in the head through the wall with a few hundred bullets.

Ok, my biggest problem... They changed all the names of all the guns again. I really wish they would just stop doing that damn sh*t. Its annoying.

Overall my experience with the beta it just felt overly noobified. A seasoned player like myself would pick up a gali and kill an entire team of CT's. As opposed to the AWM which I use in 1.5... I mean hell I could practically kill a whole team wiht the glock in 1.5! It doesent need more power. It was soo sad.

Conclustion, CS 1.6 will be beta for awhile... Well, we can all hope.

PS. This feels like a "I'm afraid of change!" argument... However, why the heck would they change it? Is there a reason to? Ah, well, I'm all for new gusns and balanceing... and the new gui is pretty cool. New rez sizes are neat if not overdoing it. CS is about balance... How else could a nub with a mac10 come out of nowhere and blast away a seasoned playe with an M4? Ah well, we will see what happens.

Well, for one thing, I'm glad someone tried it out. To be honest, I haven't tried it myself and just read reviews. I just didn't feel like messing with my CS 1.5 cuz it might get phucked. So, they changed that much? Wow! I just hope they don't kill my favorite game by phucking it up. A noobifying experience, you say? I know what u mean. Damn it looks like I'm gonna have to learn that agin? Just when I thought I had it all figured out.

Anyway,

Check out this
review. Here is a complete list of changes:

Changes/Additions:
» Complete rework of launcher UI.
» "mp_logmessages" set to "on" by default.
» Added spam check to "timeleft" command.
» Added two new rifles, the Galil and Famas.
» Added a Riot Shield for the CTs.
» New version of de_inferno.
» New version of de_aztec.
» Added new map de_airstrip.
» Increased Glock damage slightly.
» Added widescreen view modes for hardware that supports it.
» Changed so the bomb and hostages use T and upside-down T in the radar like players do (to indicate above/below the player).
» Added zoom & health in HLTV.
» Improved load times to join servers.
» Engine supports masked and additive textures modes on models.
» Added widescreen monitor support (16:9 and 5:4).
» Windows HLDS now runs as a VGUI2 panel. Running with -console will run as a console window.
» Windows HLDS now loads sw.dll again, swds.dll is no longer needed.
» HLTV log files have time stamp in file name.
» Changed "Press duck for menu" message to HUD style message and made it last for 6 seconds.
» Planted bomb now flashes in Terrorist's radar.
» Changed so the bomb defuser gets three frags for successfully defusing the bomb.
» Changed so when bomb goes off, the player that planted the bomb gets three frags.
» Changed so live players don't see enemy deaths in the scoreboard.
» Changed default spectator mode to "chase_locked".
» Changed so semi-colons are removed from messagemode text and replaced with commas (prevents exploit).
» Added number of ban entries to "listid" response to aid in parsing.
» Removed command "dem_edit", use "hl.exe -demoedit" instead.

New Variables:
» Changed default setting for "mp_logmessages" to 1
» Added server cvar "sv_lan_rate" which specifies the rate to use for all clients on a lan server, default is 20000.
» Added "sv_log_onefile" to determine whether one log file is created (total) or one log file for each map change, which is how it currently is. The default is the current behavior (one for each map change).

Bug Fixes:
» Fixed messagemode exploit where you could set cvars on the client without the console.
» Fixed bug where players could duck while traveling up ladders and not lose any speed (but the sound volume was reduced).
» Fixed players being able to move up ladders faster than their maxspeed.
» Fixed bug with chat input and PIP overlapping while in spectator mode.
» Fixed HLTV flashbang bug.
» Fixed mouse input bug when playing with very low sensitivity in Windows XP.
» Reskinned weapons to improve memory footprint.
» Reworked in-game spectator modes to make it easier to use.
» Fixed demo playback for demos containing svc_filetxferfailed messages.
» Fixed bug with HLTV director command 'stufftext'
» HLTV now handles svc_setview correctly
» Don't relay admin_mod commands to spectators like rate, cl_updaterate, etc.
» Removed unused latency code ( was related to pushlatency)
» If connected to HLTV, allow higher ex_interp values.
» Changed way how status messages are handled (to get total spectator & available slot numbers).
» Default HLTV updaterate will be 10 (not 20) to save bandwidth.
» Fixed demo recording after changelevel.
» Fixed spectator bug where you can't always cycle forwards and backwards through the players (you can only cycle one direction).
» Reduced default sv_maxupdaterate value from 60 to 30.
» Fixed bug with snow sounds not playing sometimes.
» Fixed "fakelag" bug that allowed people to set "fakelag" and then connect to a server.
» Fixed zoomed sniper crosshair in HLTV mode.
» Fixed "sv_visiblemaxplayers" setting not working for info/details query response.

It looks like they definitely put some work into this. That's good. And, when was CS 1.5 released? Like last year, right? (6.12.02) So, they had a lot of time to work on it. I just have one question, since you tried it already:
Did u uninstall 1.6 and go back to 1.5? If so, was it hard? Did it in any way phuck up your 1.5 installation? More details would be appreciated. See, all these changes make me wanna try it but I really don't feel like reinstalling 1.5, so that's why I need to know

EDIT: I just noticed that some of these were repeated twice, so I deleted the multiple entries.

Well, it doesent install over 1.5 it is not a patch... What steam does it copy the game and puts it into a new directory of your chosing and patches it when you click on it when its enabled... So you still ahve all your previous game files intact.

Heh, I didint mean it made me feel like a nub... I meant that it was catered to them. It made me feel like it was too easy. I was mowing down teams... however it could just be the players I was againsed on the servers... The weapons were amde too good... quite litterally.

Yes that is what I'm saying. ITs beta so the wonderful ppl at valve decided to only copy directories...

AS for servers... in my area there arent many. You may have better luck... There might be like 50 or 60 so not too bad.

Mikeluv... There will be new binding programs... but you know you could always make them yourself. I mean the binds not the binding program. Open up your binds for the game. Saved as an INI or text file... I'm at work so I cant check. It'll have your binds on there and you can type up new script... There are tutorials out there....

I think so because none of my old binds worked.
Also its so complicated to do it yourself.

Damn, they screwed it up, eh? I have no idea where to find such a thing, and I would have to see for myself how to do this, but unfortunately, I don't feel like installing CS 1.6 yet. Maybe MSX can tell us something.

heres how i did mine

open the config file and eadit/add a bind
eg

bind f "buy; menuselect 4; menuselect 1; slot10; wait; wait; slot10"
this will buy famas/gaili

come on this is simple enough !

ps also make the config file read only so you cant mess it up wile ur in the game and u can edit ur binds and go back to the old ones

Yeh, thats what the binding programs do.... so your best bet is to open your 1.5 binds in notepad and copy the text into the 1.6 config... IT should be really easy I got HL amp working in 1.6

Ok, you copied the text into the other text file? Hmm, you could jsut be usign the wrong file.

X:\Program Files\Steam\SteamCache\Counter-Strike\cstrike\config.cfg

The binds work like so. BIND "[button]" "[action]";"[action]"

The semicolon is for multiple actions as described in the previous post. Go to your CS 1.5 folder, and open its config.cfg... and look for lines added which have the buttons for your scripts. Copy that text to the 1.6 cfg and your all set. Its that easy.
