Advertiseing in games

i rember there was an old thread about this.....but i used the search and can't find it....anyway i rembered it when i saw this:

I think puting ads in games is good. It helps me feel like I am in the real world, in all its capatilistic bliss!

It's all about presentation, I would not mind ads in my menu screens either, if it was worked into the interface in a way that was not intrucive and could possibly even add to the effect (Perhaps a game with a menu that's a brick wall with graffiti and posters, with some of the posters being advertisments.)

If this type of non-intrusive ADs can keep the cost of games within reason, I'm for it.

I do think it lends itself to more realism.

I mean, if I had the money, I might even want to place one.

Actually, the companies are paying for the placement of these ADs and that, in turn, keeps the consumer price down while giving the developer/publisher funds to help cover the cost of development/production.

if its blended into the game (like that screen shot for a good example) im all for it, it adds more realism to the game imo.

but certain games like that cool spot one (for 7up years ago on the snes etc) are beyond the joke

and do u really think that the money from these ads make a difference in the pricing ?
i really dont think so .. or else putting a little ad in a hit like ghost recon would have reduced some considerable portion of the price , for it wasnt cheaper than other games @ the time (as i can remember) .

Im not against , but if banners during loading come in the scene , it'll be ugly .
