I've got to say I didn't like the look of the first one, so I never bothered with it, I may pick it up at the store sometime.

I'm guessing the requirements will be somewhat like unreal 2... however... they have heavily modified the engine to nclude the character movment system from HL and aamong various other code added.

So I'm guessing 10% or so higher than unreal 2 which is:

Pent 3 or Athalon 733mhz
256mb ram
a 32mb graphics card
DX 8.1

So pretty high... And it wont look like the screenshots your seeing unless you have a pretty heafty system. I can get U2 to run on my rig with the shadows near what it looks on the box but not quite. Being the nature of Dues ex, and the about 10% req increase in DX1 form UT. It'll be a little CPU hungry as well. But overall I cant wait. I think I'll have to upgrade though heh.

With your specs you should run the game just fine

Deus Ex is one of the best PC games. Man, I didn't even do homework in high school when I was playin' this game...

All I can say is... that while this game looks amazing, it probably won't run that well on my PC.

Heh, I didint do my homework ither. Was crummy because it was around finals.

My main question is if its going to have openGL code. Or at least some optomization for it. AS some of you mite know already unreal 2 has no easily configurable openGL code. I was able ot get it to run in opengl but some of the textures didint look right. Among other things...

Raven Sheild has no openGL in the demo... So I imagine its the same deal.

Is there any reason to run games in OpenGL mode anymore?

Can somone say doom3?

Yeah... but that's pretty much it. Or at least what comes to mind. Both sets of code have their strengths and weaknesses... OGL's main weakness in my eyes is its slowness to evolve. OGL is much tighter code than D3D, but D3D can do more. It's also much easier to use I'm told. The other thing is pixelshaders... Which are all the rage right now. Even though programmers seem to use so little of their potential...

However they just finished the first draft on opengl shading language... Plus there's a german university working on real time opengl raytracing at the Saarland university in Germany. link

So openGL isint dead any time soon... Its just kinda hybernating right now. I mean the stuff in doom3 is based on geForce 3(or was it 2...) hardware. Its come a ways since then. When opengl 2.0 is released who knows what it'll do...
