I never thought I would *ever* say this about the direction UT games are going but looking over previews and pictures of UT2K7 The game looks like it will kick major ass. I still dont like the the way the skins look, and the armour is funky, but the maps will be bigger and the battles will be more intense then ever. The tanks look wicked with 5 man crew with chaingun's and rocketlaunchers in front and behind to guard the tank's flank.
I will probably play the demo before getting the game, but I will say I hope it is better then the piece of junk that is 2k3-4 games. I agree on some things about what you guys have said about it but I still think it lame. Hopefully 2K7 will be better. The necris seem to want to kick more butt these days. It's about time, they made a move up the UT ladder. The one thing I don't like about the direction of the UT games is the misproportion of the maps to the human-alien size in buildings. A mouse in a planet sized factory comes to mind. I know it's *UnreaL*, but something needs to make sense to me. I still don't like what they did to the insta style, but over time maybe I can cope with it and just get along with what they have done to my beloved UT game experience. I do love the way UT99 plays and even with outdated graphics it still owns the newer UT games. I will give it a go anyways, no matter what I think, I will give the demo a try if there is one, but if there isnt one then god help epic from getting my money ever again, cause without a demo, noway in hell I'm buying it without a testdrive. I played a beta of UT2K3, it was really cool. The first map I ever played was this small 1vs1 deathmatch snow map. I don't remember the name of it, but it was a nice map. While I'm being awed by the game play and the weapons and the updated graphics, I'm thinking to myself: Finally another UT game that rocks. Then I played insta after I bought the game, and I was disappointed. Something about the way it fired, totally pissed me off. I think what it was is that I liked the way the other shock rifle looked. I mean it was pretty cool to me and still is. I believe I was addicted to the UT99 gameplay style and was to hardheaded to give the newer game a chance at all. I just wrote it off and said: "This game sucks a**". I uninstalled it for about 3 months and went back to UT99. Then that game pissed me off and then went back to UT2K3-4. Anyways I am okay with UT2K3-4, but instead of just playing instagib now, I'm going to try to be a weapons player again. I use to be a sniper only in UT99 on face maps and on sniping servers and that was really fun for me so I will go back to what works best for me instead of going with what I like best in weapons. I did judge UT2K3-4 harshly without any good reasons except I didn't like the new insta style, which is stupid on my part. I won't apologise but I will say I will give the newer UT game's a better rating and a healthier approach, cause afterall it's about fun and friendship while kicking the enemy in the ass. Long Live The UT Community, I love You All, Even The Pro's Calling Me a Noob .

Only thing that's gonna rock, is your wallet when you run to get new Quad-SLI dual-CPU PC to play this game at maximum settings :P

I dont think it will be that power hungry. Epic is pretty damn good at keeping the requirements down. UT2004 ran flawlessly with a 9700pro, with details max, 2XAA, 4XAF @ 1280X1024 fine. Last edited by Lowfat; Sep 5, 2006 at 09:09 PM. |
