i was fooling around with the autosculpt feature. its kinda cool, but i think its just a sorry excuse to not put in customize body parts licenced from a bunch of other companies. midnight club 3 has gotten customization down pretty good but nfsu2 had the most complete system. MC3 had the best parts IMO.

i checked out the soundtrack, its pretty bad. it has gradually gotten worse each game and I am sure they wont include something for custom soundtracks. but it has the best car line up in any arcade racer to date; 300C, Charger, Lambos and STi oh my!

I think EA is saving money on their soundtracks. The same in the FIFA series, soundtrack has gotten more worse every year.

I've noticed that FPS games and RPG's actually have pretty cool music. But any other game, soundtrack SUCKS. I hate the rap they put into racing games, and i hate the high-pitched annoying squeals of the rock bands they put in. For racing games I almost always have no music at all, or if there is a way, put my own music into the lineup

I hope the final Carbon will be a pretty cool game. Most Wanted really was an awesome Need for Speed

Most Wanted was pretty neat indeed. Good replay value cuz of a lot of cars. Though, i have always hated that damn lack of creativity of EA's dumbasses. They could make such a great game but they just release some halfassed pos. Oh, well....good thing i'm not buying any games from EA

from what as been sed on the ea website the demo released on xbox 360 was just the same ps2 demo made to run on the xbox 360 with little or no optomizing for the 360`s hardware this is why it had the framerate issues and low res textures on backgrounds also this accounts for all the jaggies that were in the demo as well.

another point is the ps2 demo was form e3 this year and was early code so dont beto judgemental on the demo because from what the ea employees say the game is for more polished and the handling has been tweaked.

the game is comming for pc and the demo is due real soon (from what i gather before the game ships next tuesday) hopefully its a totally reworked demo rather than the same old code we got on the 360. how the demo plays on my pc will help me decide on weather i get carbon for the pc or 360 as my pc is getting a bit old in the tooth to play modern games (amd athlon 64bit 3500+, 256mb ati x850 xt-pe, 1.5 gb ram ect) and my pc struggled with most wanted with the stuttering issue which i never resolved which im very annoyed about that if anyone can help i would be very greatful.

I can wait to play Carbon. I loved all NFS games. Hot pursuit 2 and Porshe Unleashed was awesome. NFSU and 2ns was REALLY NICE and Most Wanted is also really great. I hope Carbon wil be as good as those games

I think most wanted's soundtrack is the best of any game i've played in a long time...minus all the craptastic rap though. The chase music awesome.

EDIT: there is also another driving game demo out called race-wtcc. it looks alright but i cant find any in game reviews.

only decent track on it was styles of beyond, eveyrthing else sounded retarded. check out midnight club 3:dub remix's OST. that is fucking solid. in a racing game you need hip hop, trance and other high fueled music. car customization and rap music go hand in hand anyways....

my favorite of all the tracks on the recent NFS games was t.i. - 24's, good song before he got all famous and crap haha

I couldn't find a place to download it. I downloaded twice from gamershell (russia and zen servers) but for some reason I kept having a corrupt file. So now I am downloading at high speed from gamespot. Total access subscription is worth the money.

ill give this demo a shot, but from the looks of it its not very good.

as for soundtracks, MW had a pretty good one. the one that i thought had the best was hot pursuit 2. hell, i think that WAS the best NFS. MW comes in a very close second.

MW was the best gameplay, while HP2 had argueably the best music and cars.....plus, I miss the like, barrel bombs the cops dropped from the helicopter

Underground/UG2 were good for a few hours, then I gave up on it.


I'll try the demo in a few days once the servers settle down

i played it.... sound is good but theres too much going on-screen in terms of menus of stuff. the music gives you a lot of anticipation and stress in the game which is good. they let you fool around with auto sculpt, but i better see some licenced rims and licenced parts in there. drift is essentially back in a slightly different form. but the UI for the menus suck, and for some reason motion blur won't work im assuming its due to ps 2.0 on my card (in the past, they have done it with ps 2.0 and I know the new motion blur isn't different)

except for the game running well, ive got nothing good to say about it. i ran everything maxed out, no motion blur (my guess is shader 3.0) and no AA and kept it above 30fps at all times.

where to start.... no apparent way to turn off the dynamic soundtrack. i just wanted actual songs, not the dynamic track.

options menus were just about useless and made makeing changes a pain in the ass.

no apparent way to change the camera angle. i do NOT want to look at my car from behind. i want a freaking dash mounted position like 99% of all raceing games have.

the customization sucked terribly. dear god did that camaro have a bastardised paint job.

something to add to the custom section also, a HOOD custome option is blowing your motor. thats not a HOOD option, thats a god damn motor option.

tire width has no apparent effects, just looks. 8 inch tires, or 36 inch tires, the car handles the same with both.

character models look like ass in general.

and then theres the cars... NO car is EVER that shiny unless its a damn trailer queen.

the 68 camaro out handles the freaking Gallardo. the camaro took the turns like nothing was there, where as the Gallardo you had to fight with it to make it turn.


and then theres the worst part... ITS ALL AT NIGHT AGAIN! damn it, i do NOT want to race at night again. street raceing doesnt just happen at night, it also happens in the middle of the day.


all in all, if i was given the game for free, id play it. hell, maybe id even pick it up in the 9.99 bargin bin, but theres no way ill spend 50 bucks on this thing.

1) How the fudge do you change the graphics options? I go to options screen and the only option I get is to change the gears from auto to manual.

2)The graphics look good even though it runs at a low resolution (see above)

3)I hate HATE HATE HATE the motion blur in the game. Not only it exists like in MW on the far left and right of the screen when using the nitro, BUT it is there during regular driving all the time and the only part of the screen that doesn't have it is near the centre of the screen. IT SUCKS. I would love to have an option to change it (see point 1)

4)The vehicle turns after a small delay you press the key. Like a lag or something, first time I see this in a racing game.

5)Music is full of nobodies and I couldn't care less about it.

6)I hope there is a way to switch your "gang" member voice off. Annoying.

I reserve further comments till I resolve the above issues.


As for the camera angle, try the key C. It works for me. Though I wish they would stop acting like noobs and place some in car views.

eh, i deleted the demo already. got sick of it pretty quick.

as for changeing options, go to the options menu and press down. its a terrible options menu, but it does exsist. as for hte motion blur, it can also be turned off in the options menu. its almost at the bottom of hte list.

or atleast im assumeing it can be turned off. it was off for me, so im assumeing that if some one has a card that can run MB then it can also be turned off.

that pretty much sums it up. I installed it today - at 1600x1200 (no widescreen support again, good move EA ) it ran like crap with everything maxed.

So forcing an AFR profile for both 7900GTXs helped it considerably and it was playable, even though the car looked like it was run over by a steamroller on a 2405 Dell 24 inch 1920x1200 screen. I refuse to force the screen to have black bars either, if game makers cant allow widescreen native support, why should I make the effort?

Its the worst NFS game yet and they seem to be getting worse every release, the graphics arent pretty (Total overuse of motion blur which should be immediately disabled via the hilarious options menu (WTF), 10mph motion blur? yes I could walk faster - that really looks well ). The car handling is abymsal as well. beyond a joke.

One word. Bollocks.

Lets hope they rewrite it for the final release.
