Medieval 2 any good?

Any one played this yet? I hate the first, and the whole total bore series, but ive heard a few people saying its a killer game.

I only tried the demo, the battle was ok, a bit too fast for my taste, almost arcady IMO.

I might get the game eventualy, but I think I will wait for the gold package witht he expansion pack.

I think they are trying to satisfy a wide variety of gamers and risk losing it all.

I have loved them all albeit it does become difficult to run 16k units on the screen at one time. Trust me I've tried. As far as game play the battles have always been fun but all in all each time I buy the next rendition in the series I play for WEEKS then I never touch it again. Don't know why, can't really explain it, I've got the game on order from gogamer.com I'll post some more info once I get the package

Having played the game for a few hours now I can say that this is the best Total War game to date. It is similar to the old games in terms of general gameplay, but some small aditions make it fresh enough.
My personal favourite until now was Medieval:TW (didn't care for Rome that much) and I can say that Medieval 2 is a worthy successor.
The performance I get on my laptop is simply amazing, as the only thing I had to turn off were the shadows (and from what I heard it is a problem with nvidia hardware), otherwise I'm running maxed out at 1280x800 and the framerates are acceptable.

If you didn't like Medieval: Total War, I can't really reccomend you playing this... From my very brief run through the game, it was mostly the same just with tweaks here, a couple of new additions there and hotter graphics.

A good game imho, but if you never liked the series, lol waste of time I'll guess
