I've been fooling around in CS: S ... while some maps look blah.... others look damn impressive even with a low res textures..

Half life2 lost cost however looks just as amazing.. (actually more amazing)..

while on x1900xtx crossfire, most of the time it's 60fps solid, it never ever drops below 30fps worth noting.

Course ideally, a nvidia 8800 series card would do a mighty fine job in this area...

damn, those shots are nice! the 2nd one with the CT on office. AMAZING!! I run mine at 1680x1050 on my X850XT at 60fps too no AA tho

Those are awsome. The texture and detail in the cinder blocks on that first pic are most impressive. I'm not a big fps fan but that makes me want to go get whatever that game is & see how it does on my system. What are you using to get that fps display onscreen?

The Game is Counter Strike Source

The FPS shown below in the right hand corner is brought up by hitting the ~ key to bring up the console, then typing in "net_graph 3"

Yeah i'm getting screwed over in that second one, but i'm vs 10 CT bots on hard with myself all by myself. And hitting the F5 key basically takes about a full second for it to unfreeze the screen so by the time it had taken the screenshot.. i was not only off, but the bots had moved in.


In Half Life 2 Lost coast, the F5 key instantly results in a game crash/shutdown to desktop. So i had to use Fraps to get these shots.

mind you the initial load up is slugish, and i've got everything cranked again aside from FSAA sitting @ 2x.

Overall, the more you get into the game, the more it sits @ 30fps and 60fps. Game is smooth as silk and never drops below 20fps at any moment worth noting.

the only problem is, that at these resolutions.... texture quality is a big problem.... it's so high that even some of the high resolution textures look almost ir not quite blurry or "low"....

Yep, I noticed that in some of those Lost Coast pics, especially the one with the crossbow. The textures did look 'low res' somewhat.

The high resolution is determind by your monitor.

most people tend to max out at 1920x1080 using HDTV's capable of 1080p... or WD 16:10, would be roughly 1920x1200 ish (?)

reguardless, your monitor is probably a 19" widescreen correct?

I'm running a 30" widescreen which needs a high resolution to look similarely good on that size of monitor due to a 30" STRETCHING and making things look ugly if i ran 1440x900

Just for curiousity sake.... i could get anything higher then 6x fsaa to work (selecting and forcing 8/10/12/14x fsaa using the CCC would result in absalutely NO FSAA being applied)

but 3 images @ 6x fsaa maxed settings, interestingly enough, 15fps is the lowest frame rate that would occur while firing a weapon.

60~>30~>20~>15 seems to be the order in which the vsync'd frame would bounce around at.... anything between was while in transition and taking a shot.

it's so serprising how water looks so horridly wrong in a pictures, but in motion it's perfect.

Even in real life.... i think graphics has gotten the water down pat... just wish they'd work on the sky and clouds..... get those... then get the rest of it down....

It kinda blows looking up and seeing a blotchy cloud scroll by.
