After reading IGN's awards

for best pc games of 2006 I was sorely disappointed.

I'm not sure Company of Hero's should be game of the year because I haven't played it but lookin who they selected for FPS goty I'm really disappointed with them. They are usually pretty good at judging games (better than Gamespot) but this year Half-Life: Episode 1 took first with BF 2142 as a runner up. Kinda sickening really.

Also Company of Hero's took quite a few awards. I will be buying it soon and if it is not worth the 50$ I put down I will not be goin to IGN for a while.

Edit: Ps3 also won best console

After reading the reviews for CoH and some of the gamers' reviews at gamespot etc, I wasn't that sure the game deserves all the press. Perhaps a 4/5 stars at best.

Then I actualy bought the game at a good price and with free the Dawn of War GOTY edition. (main reason to buy it since I wanted a copy for a friend). Boy was I wrong!
The thing about CoH that most people do not talk much about is how realistic (in its own way) it feels. You think of a tactic and a way to deal with an enemy, you can do it. Playing this game looks like you are watching a real fight or a very good war movie. This game has an amount of coolness that I haven't seen in a strategy game since the first Total War game came out.
I gladly played and finished the main campain in a couple of days, then I played one after the other, 4 times a skirmish map, same map all 4 times, not to learn the game, not to master it, but to have fun and enjoy myself. This game is worth the game of the year award IMO.
