Microsoft to Provide Cross-Platform Gaming.....
According to recent articles published, once Windows VISTA is released, Microsoft plans to provide a cross-platform connection via Live! Anywhere that will allow gamers on both PCs and XBOX 360s to play the same game....with or against one another.
PC Format (195) Christmas Edition, has an article about it. And, recently Paul Thurrott wrote a lengthy article about the promises of cross-platform gaming via Live! Anywhere. Here's a snippet from Paul's article: "Live Anywhere With the Xbox 360's Microsoft's Xbox Live online service suddenly matured into a wonderful online destination for gaming and other entertainment options. Indeed, Xbox Live was so successful, that Microsoft decided to copy its own strategy for the Windows Live and Office Live services. Then, in May 2006, the software company announced its plans for Live Anywhere, an uber online service that will combine the best of both Xbox Live and Windows Live. The idea between Live Anywhere is that console gamers playing online via Xbox Live and Windows gamers playing online should be able to connect. Think of it as a PC-based link to the Xbox Live service." To read more about it. click the link: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_games.asp |

The article in PC Format that I mentioned describes how there was concern about how the XBOX 360 Controller would do vs. the PC Keyboard/Mouse. So far, in tests, they've determined that the mouse is much more accurate for range weapons, e.g. sniper rifles, while the controller handles better for up close melee combat.
It'll be interesting to see how things play out. (Pun intended. )

I think Vista will be better off than XP when it was first released.

oh hell yes sfosok, i think vista is looking very very good.
MUCH better then when windows XP first launched. I recall the major issues and problems surfacing almost emediately... and if i recall right, the way it was rushed out the door to prevent some of the courts from being able to force ms to not ship xp or similare cause. Faster they could get it on the shelves, the more likely the courts wouldn't be able to disallow ms from even being able to ship it in the first place, which resulted in it's "rushed" state on launch.

![]() For me, it takes a while to get the hang of the controller again after playing with kb/mouse. However, after playing a few games on the PC using the XBOX 360 controller, I could very well get used to it...and maybe even like it better. So far, though, there aren't enough PC games that allow the best functions of the controller to work with native Windows drivers. I'm having to use XBCD drivers just to get the vibration working. So, once Vista comes out, I'm hoping that the native drivers will work like they should and nothing more is needed. (I've heard that somewhere before, too. )
