I've successfully downloaded and installed it on my 98SE machine, but on my XP Home Edition I'm getting the warning that it hasn't passed the Windows XP Logo.....
I can't even get the latest Critical Updates to install for the same reason. I'm fairly new to XP, so, can someone tell me what gives here? |

Wow that sux, there is a fix for that problem in this program called x-setup, it is a tweak program for XP, but you can really mess up your system if you change the wrong things. I dunno, what specific error do you get?
My Mom had a problem like that w/ XP home for a long time, I actually fixed it one day by going through all the error messages discriptions and had to delete a certain folder. It had to do w/ updating to SP1, then using system restore to go back BEFORE sp1 was installed- it was a nightmare, but I finally got it to work.

I'll try to update it (dx9.0a) and see if it works for me.

The message I'm getting is that the file I'm trying to install has not passed the Windows Logo Signing.....
And then it refuses to install it. I've turned OFF Driver Signing in the Device Manager, Driver Signing option and it STILL pops up. |

Are you logged in as Administrator?-- There was a way to turn off WHQL detection when installing drivers, can't remember how I did it now.
I'll have to go see how to do that, or maybe someone else knows. It is different than the device manager way to do it- That doesn't seem to work anyway, every time I install a driver it still checks- DAMN Microsoft pisses me off sometimes. I have it set to ignore, but it desn't, classic windows. I have to find out what that other way was.

Well, I'm the ONLY one who uses the computer and I've not had any problems until just recently.
I've logged on the same way every time. EDIT: Just to verify....yes, I just checked. I'm logged on as administrator. |

It does not give an option. Rather, there's only an OK to click and then followed by, this ..... will not be installed. |

I've opted to just reinstall XP and it's back up and running and trying to install all the Updates now. (I'm on my 98SE system at the moment.)
Anyway, I'll be updating drivers for a while now.

you should have waited!!! I found the fix I am still posting so that if other have the same problem that the answer is here.............
This option wll disable the screen wich keeps popping up when you try to install 'digitally unsigned drivers'. Normally you can choose to continue the install anyways, but I have had situations where you cannot continue the install.. very annoying.. This is how to fix it. Click Start - Run then type: gpedit.msc then hit enter. Browse the folder tree to the following location: User Configuration - Administrative Templates - System now right-click Code signing for Device drivers and select Properties. On the Settings tab, either select - enable, and then select ignore from the appearing listbox.. - or click the disable option. Click apply and Ok and your set!

Don't re-install!!! run services.msc Then check to see if your Cryptographic (spelled wrong for sure) service is running. It's one of the few services that starts with a C. If you have it disabled, or if it's not running you will get errors saying similar things about logo verification. Try that first. Let me know if it works.

Sorry....reinstall is already done. This problem has now been solved, but I have ONE NEW ONE: I now get a popup screen when I reboot that says that it cannot initialize the audio card. Please reinstall the sound card drivers. Well, I've completely uninstalled EVERYTHING related to the SB Live! MP+ and made sure the devices were removed from Device Manager.....even in Safemode. I've also physically removed the card from the PCI slot and rebooted the computer without it being inserted. I've cleaned the Registry using a Registry Cleaner. I STILL get this popup message. Everytime. It's still there even after replacing the sound card, using the original CD installation drivers and then using the XP UPdate drivers. BUT.....ALL the Windows UPdates and DX9.0a installed without a hitch. |

I've been having it myself with the original 9.0. After resolving it, it installed fine, and 9.0a also installed fine now on my Win XP ![]() You need to make sure that your Cryptography services are running. From the Start menu: Settings -> Control Panel -> Administration -> Services. Here make sure that the Cryptography services are running and are set to "Automatic". |

I'm still trying to figure out why I'm getting the 'unable to initialize audio device....' pop up message on reboot.
Anyone know how to fix that? It's the only thing messing up now. |

Problem Solved!!!
It amounted to finding the correct LiveUpdate version and running it. |

Also, MS hasn't removed it from the site. I think what's happened on your end is that you've downloaded it so it won't show up again unless you select the Show Installation History option. |

Actually MS took it down because of a problem with the Cat 3.1s but it's back up now.

Ahh.....I think we went separate forks on this thread a while back. A new problem developed after I reinstalled XP. The new problem was related to my audio drivers. It was the Creative drivers on XP Update that corrected my issue. I believe you were referring to the short problem between DX 9.0a and the CAT 3.1s. |
