couple things. first, i really like it. i like CS, but this is like free roam cs. there arent 3 paths to the enemy base, its all very open. i was always a super cautious cs player, so this really works for my style of game play, you really have to stay alert. so many hiding places. i saw a dude sniping from a tree the other day.

second, the ammo bug you guys were talkin about. it might have to do with what is in your inventory. if you go back to base after killing some people, and picking up their backpacks, youll see some other guns and stuff in your inventory. if you sell these, you can carry more ammo for the gun you have, and you wont get that error. if you get the error right when you spawn in, well, then its a different issue all together.

third, it takes a long ass time to advance ranks. you never even get the opportunity to buy some of the cool stuff because by the time you get to the higher ranks, the match is over.

lastly, i think they need to revamp the money system a bit. say you start off on a roll, build up some cash, and then start buying an assualt rifle, some ammo, scope, silencer, maybe some armor or health packs. that's usually what i do, and my normal load out is about $1500. well, you die three times in a row real quick, could be freak stuff, like spawn campers or what have you, and bam, all your money is gone. yeah, i know, i could buy cheaper stuff, but it sucks going from an AK with all the goodies to a SMG. so i just buy my default load out, and then 4 rounds later, im running around with a pistol.

i think this could be remedied by this, every time you reach a certain rank or money level, you spawn with more cash. like once you read $6000, you spawn with no less than $1500. when you reach $8000, no less than $2000. etc, etc. cause its no fun doing really well, have a few bad rounds, then trying to make your money back with a pistol vs guys with heavy artilery.

i also like how they kinda of reward people who dont snipe. you get $400 i think for a kill, but then if you pick up the backpack they drop when they die, you get an extra $100, plus whatever is in it you can sell if you go back to base first. also, that you get extra cash for headshots, and extra cash the more people you kill before getting killed. you get bonuses for each person after the first you frag, before you yourself die.

and suprisingly, it runs really well on my lame ass machine. i turned down the settings in advanced (not all the way, the sliders are maybe 1/3 down), turned down the lighting to the lowest setting, and run at 1024x768 very smoothly.

ya, ive been playing for awhile now and ive never been able to unlock the final tier weapons. while i agree that it should take quite abit of work to get those upper tier weapons, its set way to high right now. ive done 35 kills or so and still couldnt unlock them.

overall im happy with the game. the final version should run better and have most of the bugs worked out, which should make the game even more fun.

like i said earlier, the death match really isnt that fun for me, but i absolutly love the artifact hunt.

I went to nvidia site and they game me old one (93.71) and here you have a newish one (93.81)
They both dont work, it is very odd.

I have this glowing green sky, i will try to get a pic of it, but prnt-scrn doent work

also the is very resource demanding, i think they need to fix that and they need a count down to respawn

I'd love to hear more about the performance people are getting on max detail. I am worrying constantly if my 7800 GTX will run the game at max settings on 1280x1024.... I just won't be able to accept any less than maxed out everything....

All right here is the answer. If you see my pc stats, they are pretty good i think. But i have the problem of the game running ridiculously poorly on my pc. i dont under stand, i have lighing at medium and textures at medium. It is really bad, and the resolution i think 960x600 or 1024x768. It runs slowly, and maybe it is a problem with my ping, but i have high speed broadband so it shouldnt matter.
It is just really odd that it acts like this. I dont,like it and i have a glowing green sky which doesnt make sense to me. Oh and also sometimes the screen gets all screwy and it looks kind of like whenyou win solitare, do you know what that looks like? Every now and then that happens. There are some major issues with performance but that is why it is a beta.
Oh, and i have the latest nvidia drivers and nothing much running in the background. Windows XP
Can someone please help me with the reason why my sky is glowing green???? It looks rly wierd! Ill get a print-screen up here sooner or later.

i cant tell you why your sky is glowing green, but i can tell you what your performance problems are.

youve got a system with a ton of potential, your problem is the graphics card. its absolutly killing your system.
i just looked up your card and that thing is as low and slow as you can possibly go with a current card. that card is suited for a media center PC mostly, and very very minimal gameing.

if i was you, i would be looking at something like a very high end 7x00 series card, or an 8800gts. preferably the 8800gts, it has significant performance improvements over the 7x00 series.

My gtx runs the game at max, except AA. It looks really great, I have to say. YOu certainly won't be getting max settings when you have 16 people online, but the net code has been addressed here before. I've found with this game, a little OCing goes a long way, even online.

I've unlocked the RPG, grenade launcher, and the last sniper rifle. All are crazy good but I have been kill by a pistol before and they took my weapon.

My Gtx runs it max with AA and 16 people. Slows down for some lightning strikes but its otherwise good.

i didnt like deathmatch at first, but after playing it for a couple hours, it really grew on me. the map is so huge, and there are so many different areas to play in, that you can kinda stick to the areas that suit your style of play. plus after awhile, the players will all gravitate towards one area of the map, either around the multi-level warehouse or the train yard. and then, once all dozen or so guys keep returning to one area, some really cool battles take place. i especially love the ones in the train yard, where i am able to keep my distance and pick off people as they battle each other up close.

i think they have pretty much eliminated camping with their style mp and their map design. anytime i come across a place where i think, wow, this is a great camping spot, i see another way to flank that spot, or vulnerable blind side.

i dont get a glowing green sky (like the skybox is fucked up) but ill get weird fog that is blocky and colored funky (usually green). it started happening after i turned my settings down to get it to run better. i just figure my lame computer cant generate the lighting/enviromental effect they are trying to display, and i get this bootleg version instead. its a little annoying, but i realize the comp i am playing it on is 3 years old, and was pretty middle of the road then. i just like the game so much im willing to settle for poor enviro effects just to play it.

well at fist the game was fun when loads of people were trying the game for the first time but now all the snipers and campers are really taking the xxxx ,specially when u join a game that its already in progress its nearly impossible to frag enough people to buy good weapons .and when u do u have 30 seconds left

Not what I wanted to discover though... Framerates don't seem to be mighty (on max) even on an x1950... My 7800 obviously has no chance at coping.. Looks like I have no choice but to frantically look for a better gfx card which will be difficult for me at the moment. Man I really want to play on absolute max

For all the people complaining about AA, you can only use AA if you use the static lighting (dx8 render). If you use any of the other 2 render you will NOT get AA, even if you have a super PC, this is not because it's a beta, it's going to be this way in the final version. The reason they don't use AA with the other lighting renders has to do with the way the engines game renders things in dx9, it's just the way the game engine works.

i think if you join a game in progress, the should average every current player's cash and give you that (or a certain percentage of that, like 60-80%) so that you dont start in such a hole.

what is the command line for displaying fps?

First off a Huge thanks goes out to DH for doing this as I think this community and the gaming community really enjoy playing with "known" peeps!!!
After getting everything werkin correctly (realtively easy fortunately) the game loaded I'm guessing at the default settings of 1024... well I have a great monitor that just loves seeing everything at full res 1600x1050, so I bumped it up to that and Joined a match and conveniently got my Butt Handed to me...
It was fun, one thing I didn't think was good was the internal clock changing from day to nite so fast.... I think it should be slowed down to at least half as fast as it currently is if not more...
Also, not sure if it was my system or what but the rain/lightning flashes or maybe dynamic lighting didn't really look that great... Otherwise the map was a good size with plenty of spots... It was a bit difficult for me getting used to the controls as I rarely play this style of game but they were in all the normal places and could be easily learned after a few good hours. ( I am an Unreal Tournament King btw...)
I need to spend a little more time with it to have fun with the advanced weopans and hopefully stay alive a bit longer... thought it was interesting how the machine gun reacted though, Realistic firing which can be tough to control when fully automatic, hence short bursts are better That is all for now...

Got my key yesterday and many thanks to DH for letting me in on Stalker which I have been waiting for, for many years I'm running a 21 inch WS HD lcd gateway monitor and it looks sweet ( EYECANDY!!!). I like the effects and such. Can't wait to buy it and mess around with the SP mode. Had to work this morning so only got to play for 10 minutes, but watch out tonight when i get off work. Gona mess around with cranking up the video settings and will keep you all posted. Cheers

Not quite so. A lot of first person shooters don't support a real widescreen field of view, but just remove the top and bottom part of the picture. So, although the resolution is almost identical between 1440x900 and 1280x1024 in terms of the number of pixels, the game renders significantly less geometry at 1440x900, thus improving performance.
