Rise of Nations, AOE, AOM,C&C

Does anybody still play these games, the ones where you build an empire or base and try and take over the land around you?
Games like:
Rise of Nations
Age of Empires
Age of Mythology
Red Alert
Tiberen Sun
C&C Generals
Battleifled 2 Sandbox

I still play these gmaes, i love them, but i dont see them being popular that much here, humph, i have only been here two days, orginally signed up for help with stalker beta,

I only dont like BF2 Sandbox, and Rise of Nations is my favorite, the comes Age of empires

The original Age of Empires (up to 2) were good but I don't like the new one.

C&C is still an awesome series (Despite EA's crappy game sickness that has been catching on)

Dawn of War is probably one of my favorites for that whole mass army's and stomp your oponents

Company of Heroes was good when I played it but it requires a lot of management and is a little hard to get used to at first. Its different than most RTS games.

Edit: Also, welcome DH. There are a lot of good people and info here

I dominated AoE2 for years, AoE3 I didnt like as much though. Never played C&C, actually none of them except Age of Mythology which i also didnt like that much.
Right now I'm playing Supreme Commander, well trying it out, not sure if i like it enough to buy it yet. Also ganna try out C&C3.

The first game of this type I played was Dune 2 (of course). Warcraft came next, but it wasn't as good. Civilization was great fun too. Another one I remember is Z, really fast game

. That concludes the old ones, the only recent RTS game I played is The Battle For Middle-earth.

And to be honest, I don't know most of the games you guys mentioned, I'm not that big gamer like I was a few years ago

Everything you listed is good. And i also like Company of Heroes and Dawn of War. I sometimes play CoH online with friends. I'm kinda not good in that kinda game but i can demolish EVERYTHING in Red Alert 2. Therefore, I WANT C&C3!!!

i loved the concept of god powers and myth creatures in AoM but AoE3 kinda lost it for me, i prefer 2 over 3.
Rise of Nations is mine and my dad's recent hook, he got the Gold Edition and the Normal one off ebay together for about £6 or something, bargain!

I love rise of nations, but the new version "rise of Nations: Rise of Legends" destroyed the games reputation, it is horrible becuase you loose the complete feel the RoN gave off
AoE i havent played except for 3, i like three, but if i played 2 i bet i would like it, but i dont think i would like 1 (i have tried it)

C&C is the best of those poll options. Why? Those games had a lot of humor and were enjoyable to play especially with great characters such as Kane, Tanya, and Einstein/Stalin.

Personally, I think the Total War series is better than any of those because it has the strategic RISK type elements as well as the excitement that Company of Heroes and Dawn of War series excel at.

I like RoN becuase of the RISK likeness in it too, there is a conquer the world campaign and you take over a risk like board but you do the fighting in the battles
I liked RA2 and exp and C&C General, but i dont like renegade too much, i used to, but not anyomore

Holy cow! My brother used to play that game all the time. I was never that good at it and always played C&C instead.

Played ALL the C&C games, love em. Can't wait until C&C 3 although they should have just called it C&C: Tiberium Wars and dropped the numerics.

AOE III is fun and I play it quite a bit at small (6-10ppl) lan parties.

Man, it took me more than an hour to find a site to download the demo of CC3. Gamershell is almost shut down lol. For anyone looking for a download site, try strategyinformer.com that's where I am downloading it from. Speed is not super, but no complains considering that this feels like the biggest demo release so far lol. Another 6 hours to go.
