I concentrated on the main quest over the past two game sessions and finished earlier this morning.
I've found Shivering Isles to be loads of fun...and FUNNY...and am now working on the remaining side quests. Still plenty of ground to cover.

Bought the game yesterday. Just installed it. Creating a new character so it will be a bit before i get to the good stuff.

So whats a decent level to get to before you enter the Shivering Isles? I start a character the other day (lost my old saves) and was curious to check out the new areas, but don't want to ruin the experience.

the levels of the monsters are scaled up with yours, so it should be a great experience at every level. My char is lvl34 and it still has trouble with some things.

The parallel leveling is correct. Even with my LVL 43 Dark Elf Battlemage with Master Skills in most areas, I can find a few challenges still.

I got Sheogorath's pimp suit and pimp cane now. If only I could figure out what this "voice of Sheogorath" staff does...

Does it exit right straight away? Or, after the character dies?
(You WILL die is why I insisted you save your game before pulling this stunt. )

Well, I've hit a brick wall.
![]() I just discovered that NONE of my saved games over the past 18 hours or so have worked. Not even the Autosaves. And, not even the autosave.bak file has been updated. AND, I do not believe I've reached the Windows limit of number of files within a folder/directory, either. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen? It's a first for me in this game. I have reached saved limits in other games but, after over a year with Oblivion, this is a first for me. |

Would moving all but the most recent save to another folder make it work?

(Well, maybe you will, too. )Last night I was doing some maintenance for an upcoming review and had to remove the motherboard from the case. Apparently, my CMOS battery is dead...and/or very weak. What had happened was my date/time on my PC got pushed back to MARCH 3, 2007 or something like that. The last correctly dated save I had was from about 20 hours ago. After discovering that my time/date was wrong down in my Taskbar, I was able to get it sorted out. But, yes, to be safe, I've moved all but the most recent saved games to a backup folder.

Oh I believe it, I also believe you'd have replaced the motherboard if it would have got Oblivion working

![]() In fact, I'm playing on the previous AMD system because that new Intel simply will NOT play right outdoors. I tried just installing ONLY Windows XP, updated, and ONLY Oblivion and got the same result. It will only play well if I disable all sound. This AMD system does a splendid job! BUT, I had to revert to CAT 7.2s just a little while ago from the CAT 7.3s due to losing video during the game. That's a FIRST for me. Or, at least I can't recall it ever happening before. And, it did it three times just tonight. So far, 'knock on wood', it's done very well with the CAT 7.2s. |

I seriously just got into Shivering isles just today before work (finally had time to finish knights of the nine). Been to busy with work and school to give the game the attention it needs. So far I've only killed one thing on the fringe and haven't even been to the gate keeper yet.
I have another day comin up so I think I'll take the time to properly kill everything on this nice little island. |

I think I saved the best for last.
![]() I completed the "Ghosts of Vitharn" just the other night. At this point, I'm not aware of anything else to be done in Shivering Isles. I think I've discovered every cave/dungeon/village/etc. and have gone back to some of those to see if I had gone completely through them. So, with a wave of the hand, and good wishes to all the Manics and Demented, I bid farewell as I once again re-enter the land of Cyrodiil. |
