True, DX10 is Vista-only. It is not possible to install DX10 on XP.

There were some rumors about a new revision of dx9 that would add much of the dx10 functionality though. So far it seems they were just rumors though.

I'm not making myself clear here.My rig has 2 8800GTX's.I know I cant see the advantages of DX10 without Vista.But will DX10 games still run with XP?

Nope... DX10 games will only run on Vista. For example, FSX is right now on XP and runs in DX9 but later, they plan on releasing a DX10 version.

Another example is Conan which will also be released in two different forms, XP and Vista.

no... they won't run in xp..

only games that are made with dx10, BUT HAVE a dx9 capability mode will run in xp....

Any game made for DX10 exclusively, just won't work.

It's no different then having DX8.1 and the game requireing DX9, the game won't work untill you install dx9 as most games may although "have a capability for dx8.1 modes", it requires dx9. DX10 is like a completely different API, it's like making a move from dx9 (call it Glide) to DX10 (D3D), completely different even if they are "similare" DX9L is similare to that of a wrapper for vista.

None of the ATI cards that are out now can do that.
From the Nvidia cards, only the 8xxx series can run DX10 games.
