new space sims anyone?

I was looking at a new BSG mod for Freespace 2 and it got me missing the genre quite a bit. I remember playing Wing Commander 2 as a kid and LOVING it. Then X-wing also...and Xwing vs Tie Fighter. Man those were the days...

Anyway the point is that I really miss those. I didn't take well to Freespace 2. The controls kinda were meh and there were a whole bunch of other problems. Anyone else know of some good ones out already or on the horizon soon?

ahh wingcommander, i used to spend hours playing the first one

as for recent ones - i enjoyed the demo for Darkstar One

What about the X series? X3 Reunion is a great game. More Elite than Wing Commander though.
If you prefer heavy focus on action, then try the Starshatter series. The graphics are not perfect, but the gameplay is solid and fun.
If you prefer Starflight, then try the Space Rangers series. Especially 2.
