and i raised my page file to 2GB (because my old 1GB was red marked while installing so i thought maybe it could be the reason but that didnt change anything *sigh*)

i hope we can get this game to work, i really would like to play it now and not in a moth or so

Anyone in the underground carpark sequence (with the group of stalkers) that is
getting CTDs (crashing to desktop)?

I've disabled overclocks, disabled any optimizations, mem checks good...but
can't seem to nail down the problem.

First game stopping problem i've had with the game.

Running it under winXP , ati cats 7.3, ATT...

It still happens to me and STALKER is unplayable, rebooting is the only thing that fixes it, then performance is normal. If I play a couple hours of Oblivion or something else than load up STALKER again chances are the slowdown returns. I'm using an unpatched version in Xp.

I'm really liking this game after playing the Lab level...ground shaking and objects rising off the floor and propelled at your head is really spooky. It's as good as any of the stuff in FEAR.

The random hang/crash is wide spread and hopefully they will address it in the future.. here is the offical thread and many more people having this problem. Alot are just out the money it cost like I am.

False alarm, somehow there was a problem with the quicksave and the lua
script. Started over from an auto-save and no problems.

As of the new patch, I can not finish the game -- crashs and what not... so if you buy this game -- play with out the patch unless you get crashs...

STALKER seems to have issues with Dynamic lighting (Dx9)...

Try the game using static lighting and there is a world of difference.

yeah static lights look like poo i refuse to run the game like that,so untill they show some respect for the people that actually bought the game and release a decent patch not something like a patch of 8mb just to cover up that the game`s a complete xxxx i will not bother playing it again , i really just hope that crysis isnt going to be like that otherwise i will not bother with pc gaming anymore and i`ll just buy a ps3 or a xbox360

Static lighting is an option right now for folks that have problems with dynamic
lighting...If you consider yourself too good to use it, please stop whining about

Now I'm getting the constant crashing people were talking about. Everything was going good I did a bunch of quests and now it's just CTD all over the place.

happend with me after I patched, I am trying to complete the game "the good way" now. I got to the Red Forest and crashed, know can't even load game saves anymore, it just hangs.

Worst part of the CTD's is the game gets better as you play, one second your pumped after finishing a great quest and the next you're staring at the desktop.

I'm used to games crashing but usually it's before anything great is happening.

see theres alot of people having problems with this game ,and i thought this shoud be the kind of place where we could talk about it and help each other and not tell people to get over it and to move along..

Not sure if you guys have seen this yet, but this tweak fixed all my problems with this game and improved a few others also. The game is now fully playable on Vista with everything maxed out. Check this out if you haven't already

I had read that for XP the command line -noprefetch in the shortcut would fix it too..but alas.. the freeze happened again after I finished the car park quest and boar hunt.

This game freezes on both XP and Vista if I don't disable the PEG Link option in the bios. I'm not sure if all Asus boards have it but most do; worth playing around with it if you see it in there.

I have an old Asus board that doesn't do PCI and I'm using ATI. Not sure the PEG LInk option is available to me, but I'll check. edit: nope. no PEG link option that I could find..

Sorry misread your specs for an X1800

I don't think that option exists for AGP systems.

I found a temporary 'fix' for the stuck trader door at the beginning of the game.

After being plagued by this bug more than a few times, i decided to knock the
large red gas container down and roll it in front of the door before proceeding
through the game.

Door never closes, problem solved.
