Best looking game (according to you)

I've played many games, but there's one that always come back to my mind. All the little details, atmosphere, etc. For me, it's got to be "Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory". What's yours?

I actually thought that the PC version of Fable was wonderful. The enviornments, the music, the story, the whole package just looked gorgeous in my opinion. The xbox version...not so much.

edit: For all of its faults, Vampire Bloodlines had the best enviornment of any game IMO. The story was solid too. But maybe thats cause im just a fan of vampires.

Best looking game coming up is Crysis. Best looking game I played so far..Half-Life 2 with the Fakefactory mod.

For sheer wow factor it'd have to be oblivion.

For keeping it simple and having an impact it's going to be X3:reunion

For 'bloody hell' affect, a huge battle in any of the totalwar games.

Too many choices, I'm gonna cheat and break it down by genre:

FPS: Battlefield 2 - With everything maxed out there's no other FPS that manages to have highly detailed soldiers, weapons and vehicles combined with high quality shadows, dynamic lighting and explosions.

RTS: Company of Heroes - Great detail, one of the only RTS games out there that has environments which actually look like real world locations.

RPG: Oblivion - This is probably the all around best looking game around and still brings even the most high end system to its knees with all details at max. Most importantly, the look of the game actually draws you in so you feel like you're there which is more than I can say for other great looking games.

Oblivion, although I didn't like the gameplay.

Also Doom 3 still looks great and has a fantastic atmosphere...hu funny how the best looking games are generally the least interesting imo.

A game that I did love and thought looked fantastic was Half Life 2 but its showing its age.

For me on a shock-scale basis the -=best=- looking game of all time was Black And White, this game was just too good on a shock and awe basis for me I wasn't expecting it to be that good maybe that was why.

Agreed, BW2 is one of the best looking games, IMO. Especially for its time.

CoH is up there for me, as is Rainbow 6 Vegas. I feel I have to mention Guild Wars. The atmosphere is second to none, and the variety and design of the areas are the best in the genre.

Definately Oblivion w/ Shivering Isles expansion. Even with a C2D @ 3GHz, and an 8800GTS 640mb, the game cannot be run on max.

You might have a problem there, cause I can run the game with full details without any problem. With lower fps I could too with my previous graphics card (x1800xt)

what do you consider full detail? I mean with all maxed in game + AA and AF enabled @ 1680 X 1050. And I will not play the game with any slow downs at all. If i get hiccups, i lower a setting.

Eh, full details means that. Everything on max...what else? Including 4AA and 16AF. (8800gts). The only thing lower is the resolution since my monitor doesn't support that. I use 1280x1024.
