Game Survey
1. What is your favorite game genre? [ ]RPG [ ]RTS [ ]TBS [ ]Action [ ]Adventure [ ]Sports [x]FPS 2. What Aspects of gameplay are most important to this genre in order of importance? 1-Most important 6-Least important. [ ]Story [1]Controls/Interaction [1]User Interface [2]Graphics [3]Audio [ ]Extras/Specials 3. Based on your selections what are the reasons you selected the top 3 for being the most important aspects of gameplay? 1. Games are fun because they create endorphins and adrenalin in the brain. The brain needs to be tricked into producing these neurochemicals, so a sense of immersion is required. The user interface/game controls/interaction (all the same thing) must be transparent. You cannot think, "well ,now I have to type a w." 2. graphics - goes to immersion in the virtual world you are playing in. 3. Audio - goes to immersion in the virtual world you are playing in. Level design is also very important (I would say number 2 after controls, but it is not on the list. FPS's are about killing things and getting to the end without dying yourself. Story is almost immaterial.

I amnot sure the difference between User interface and control/interaction 3. Based on your selections what are the reasons you selected the top 3 for being the most important aspects of gameplay? 1. Graphics: You need to have something appealing to my eyes to make me look at it. When you demand for me to play it for hours and hours as a TBS, if the game doesn't look good and pleasant to the eye, forget it. 2. If you have no good interface/controls it is like having a beautiful woman (or man I guess), all naked in front of you and not being able to touch her. 3. Same as 2.

Thanks for the feedback I edited the Survey based on your comments. My idea behind User Interface and Controls is that the UI is the visible part how it actually looks and the Controls (although in Simulation games is mainly a UI part) is how the character would act based on clicking the mouse, hitting a button on your controller/keyboard etc and what your expectations of the action would be.
Story would be the setting etc of the game. Which I think I am going to change to Story/Setting because some games genre's don't really have a story... Especially games like Civilization.... Although I guess you could say the story in that is made by the player

Game Survey
1. What is your favorite game genre? [x ]RPG [ ]RTS [ ]TBS [ ]Action [ ]Adventure [ ]Sports [ ]FPS 2. [1 ]Story/Setting [2 ]Controls/Interaction (Actual Controls) [5 ]User Interface (Menu's etc) [3]Graphics [6 ]Audio [4 ]Extras/Specials [7 ]Level Design 3. Based on your selections what are the reasons you selected the top 3 for being the most important aspects of gameplay? 1. If the story/plot is a dud, I lose interest very quickly and move on to something else. As long as there's a good story/plot -- with nice little plot twists and interesting objectives to complete, I can play all night long. (You might want to refer to this as 'Plot Development'.) 2. The controls and interaction are VERY important as without good controls and interaction with the gaming world, it would be too one dimensional. The gamer (me) needs to be drawn into the game and made to feel a part of the action and the game world as much as possible. 3. Graphics provide the overall enhancement to make the game world seem more realistic. The better and more realistic the graphics -- in combination with the first two -- the more I feel involved in the game play and world. Good luck on your project and your future career.
