Forza 2 question

All the reviews I have read so far say how most if not all of the races are same or similar to the first game. That doesn't say much to the people that have not played the first one though...
Are all from proper circuits? Are there any city races or on highways or something?

Well since you have not played the first one I have to say that there are a lot of the same tracks but thats a good thing!

They have some real and some fake ones like Maple Valley but they all have something to offer thats fun! They have a city one called New York and it's amazing. It's really fast with 2 or 3 hard brake zones that you have to watch out for. There is also a round track to test your top speed. A lot of people I guess like doing that one but I find it kind of dumb since I find it no fun to go around and around. O well. The game play is amazing and it's well worth the money! I say go out and buy it and you will be very happy you did!

So the maps are nothing like PGR3 except of the New York map? Not sure I like that. I get bored with maps that have nothing to look at but flat or almost flat terrain with the occasional terrace for spectators.

The demo is ok, but if all the maps are of the same theme, not sure I will buy it.
Are there any screenshots showing the different tracks?

Sandok will become famous soon enoughSandok will become famous soon enough

If you don't want real test tracks, then no point searching in a simulation.... If ever, check out the gameplay videos on Gametrailers.com but if what you're looking for is a fast, showy and slippy and sliddy racing game like PGR with closed level circuits, then Forza is not your cup of tea

The game isn't gorgeous and the tracks are bland, its all about gameplay...

So I have to choose between boring tracks with good simulation or fun tracks with simulation the level of Supercars?
Or PGR3 I guess.

wha!? are we talking about the same Forza2? this game is beautiful. i get giddy every time i play it. i get so caught up in everything reflecting off of every surface of the car, that i oftentimes go straight thru a turn and smash the barriers doing 100+mph. fantastic games. this should be a must have. the DH review was spot on when it came to the AI however. that is my biggest gripe. in which the AI cars follow the "line" and have no regard for u or ur car whatsoever. nothing worse than being in a 30 lap endurance race at laguna seca and having a car u are lapping take u out on the next to last lap farewell 120,000 cr.

The AI does that? Because in the demo I never had a crash that wasn't my fault. The AI cars felt like they were trying to avoid me and pass me whenever they could.

I just wanted to point out that if you want PGR3 you can buy it for cheap! It's down to around $20US for new since it's one of those classic games for xbox now and if you were to buy the wireless racing wheel from MS it also comes with it!

I would say get both and that should be no more than $80US. In forza you don't have a lot of time to spend looking around like someone said above me since you will crash. You have to focus on the track and even more important than the track the other racers you are playing with. Nothing worse than crashing into someone because they did not see you and then having them get pissed off lol...

Forza runs smooth but as a consequence is fugly... It has the strangest lighting ever (cars in shadow = all black and cars with light shining = whited out) and it has almost no bump mapping or anything. The game looks bland...

Look at DiRT, now THAT's a gorgeous car game

While it is a bit of a gross simplification, Forza = best simulation ever... PGR3 = best fun racer ever... Well maybe not ever for both but in general, Forza = serious and PGR = not so serious...

But I dunno real tracks are "far" from boring imho...

BTW, I already have PGR3, and Forza 2 can be found here for 75 euros or in US $ about 100. After playing the demo still not sure about it, but the demo for Dirt was amazing. Very very fun to drive.

I played some more of the demo, and yes it can be fun. Perhaps when/if the price gets lower I will grab one copy.
What I don't get is how in some reviews they compare this game to PGR3 (rightly so of course since both racers) BUT, they say that if you play Forza 2 and then PGR3 you will notice the difference in fps and think that PGR3 is one slow game.
I am very confused with this since earlier today I played some PGR3 (after few weeks of absence) and I just couldn't see PGR3 as a slower game at all. I don't know if the actual frames per second value is indeed lower, but to me it feels much faster than Forza 2.

BTW, regarding the sale of customized cars in Forza 2, do you have to have Gold membership to do it? Also what do you sell them for? In game money?
